Excellent food. Portions are a good size but may be considered by some as small. Staff converse in English. 4 stars based on the quality of the food for an establishment of this size and cost. The butter naan bread is 5 star +

Our first visit here was on a saturday night. It was crowded but we were greeted with smiles and made to feel welcome. We’ve been back several times. Tandoori lamb and mango lassi are my GF’s favorites. I like the vegetable biriyani. It’s one of our«go to» places. We like the service and the atmosphere. We often have leftovers to bring home. When I ordered take out the generous portions made me think I had been given the wrong order.

Ventured out here on a date after reading Kim’s review. I have to say that this is one fine Indian restaurant. Even though it is a bit away from the city center, being right on a tram line really helps. The interior has a personalized touch, which is quite different from other Indian restaurants, which unfortunately tend to all look alike. Situated in a quiet neighborhood, you are bound to enjoy your meal in peace and tranquility. The menu is the standard fare you will find at every Indian restaurant in Amsterdam. What sets it apart is the quality of food. Generally, food served at the city’s average Indian restaurants tends to be greasy, but not here. The ingredients tasted fresh and made you almost want to wander into the kitchen. Service is generally nice and attentive. We didn’t feel pressured for time. The ambience was nice enough to have a great chat with your company, too. If you’re trying to find a warm, cosy place to dine at outside the city center, this Diya might just have the quality Indian food you desire! Cheers!

Don’t let the simple appearance of this wonderful Indian restaurant mislead you into believing that it’s not all that. I have been cycling pass this restaurant for about a year, completely oblivious that I was passing up on one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam. What a neighborhood gem! I ate here last night for dinner and I thought the food here was just simply amazing! I have eaten at a few Indian restaurants in LA, but nothing like this. My Dutch boyfriend even thought the food was fantastic! He loved the beer, which is a major complement for them. I was in the mood last night for three things; good food, something Gluten-free on the menu and something that did not taste so standard. I ordered this amazing(Curry Fish Dish) that was just out of sight. I truly adored everything about this restaurant. The ambiance displays a classy taste of Indian food and art. I was very impressed with their wide range of diverse dishes. There was not one thing about this restaurant that I did not approve. The service was very accommodating and prompt, which is normally not the case in Amsterdam. I look forward to coming back soon! It was definitely and enjoyable experience!
