De Ponteneur

Good neighborhood spot. Serves food all day. Has a lot of space inside and a nice terrace along the street.
Nice place to eat a good and simple meal and enjoy peaceful conversation.

Als wir am ersten Morgen in Amsterdam waren suchten wir ein nettes Café, wo wir frühstücken können und sind dann auf den Ponteneur gestoßen.
Als wir hinein kamen war uns sofort klar, dass ist unser Laden und kamen, ab da an auch jeden Tag zum frühstücken hierher.
Das Ambiente ist total gemütlich mit den vielen verschiedenen Stühlen und Tischen, dem hohen Raum, ach die Bilder die es hier gibt beschreiben es glaub ich am besten.
Das Personal war super freundlich, vllt. nicht die aufmerksamsten, aber dieses Lokal läd auch einfach zum verweilen ein.
Hier gibt es Zeitschriften, Zeitungen für die Gäste, es gibt gratis Wlan, und Spielsachen für die Kinder, also hier kann sich wirklich jeder Lange aufhalten.
Nun aber zum Essen, denn das ist auch grandios, riesige Portionen für angenehme, günstige Preise.
Hat man am morgen zb. das Brot mit Ei und Ham gegessen brauch man eig. den ganzen Tag nichts mehr essen.
Tarte wird hier auch Falsch verstanden, wer ´né Tarte will bekommt schon fast né Torte.
Also hier gibt es große Portionen.
Alles in allen bin ich echt traurig, dass es den Ponteneur nicht in Hamburg gibt, am liebsten hätte ich ihn mitgenommen und hier zu meinen Stammlokal gemacht.

This is a great place to get a table for a long time, pretty much any time. They’re open early, late, on Sundays, and they let you take up the table for as long as you want. I just spent 4 hours here today, spending about 10 euros on coffees and a sandwich with a friend while we did our Dutch homework.
They have free wi-​fi, but the speed is pretty terrible so you’re probably better off using your cell phone data plan if you have one. There is the odd fruit fly on the table, and you pretty much have to hang onto your waiter by the ankle if you want service, but that’s the downside of them being so laid back. Their food is decent. It’s not awesome, but it’s not terrible, either.
I had my post-​wedding brunch here, and all the Americans were amused at the big fat pigeons that cleaned off the plates left outside behind by previous diners. It was a little like watching a Disney movie. We guessed they also have some chipmunks and squirrels cleaning up in the back. :)

Chilled after the Dappermarkt? Need to warm up? Volkscafe De Ponteneur is the place to pull up a chair (no chair the same) and as one says in Dutch «lekker chillen.» The sand in the hourglass starts to trickle. No clock on the wall or worry in the world. The first beer, coffee or tea is followed by a second then a third. Gewoon lekker relaxed onder gewone volk. Laptops and smartphones distract from the ambience of lovers, lookers and praatjezoekers.

Ponteneur is a very nice and cosy place, I spent there some afternoons, chatting and ordering a very good spicy soup that warmed me up on cold, snowy days.
I like the atmosphere very much, you can find anything from drinks to a real meal and desserts.
It is nice to read there or eat with your friends or have an evening drink.
