De Leeuw Zuurwaren is among one of the oldest and traditional pickle business in town. I would add it to my list of must try while in Amsterdam. Recognize as one of the most popular Jewish pickle business in the Netherlands. For nearly a hundred years De Leeuw Zuurwaren’s family has been serving sweet and sour pickles through out the Netherlands. Dutchman brought me here to taste the oldest pickles and onions in town. Since the middle ages Dutch pickles were a common snack through out West of Europe. The word pickle is derived from the Dutch word «pekel». A great place to stop through and pick up a bag of sweet and sour pickles, onions, herring, olives and other goodies.
