Crowne Plaza Amsterdam South

Typically Crown plazas in the United States look like throwback hotels from the eighties
Not this one. Located on the canal in the business district of Amsterdam. Very close to the train and metro system 1 stop away from Amsterdam airport. Amsterdam Zuid stop.
Clean, sexy, modern awkward shower. The shower had a removable head. So it was like washing your dog.

Initially I was a wee bit peeved that my partner hadn’t booked their central hotel. However the transport system is really good meaning that this didn’t have a huge impact on getting in and out of the centre. Also we were about 6 minutes by train from the airport which was a real plus point when we headed there this morning.
The hotel itself is amazing. Every member of staff represented the hotel to a high level and we were made to feel really welcome. The bedroom was lovely and everything had been thought of including a This Works Sleep lavender pillow spray. The bathroom was also a good size and spotless. Next time I’ll be getting lush bath bombs to make the most of their giant baths.
Breakfast had a good mix of items on over and the opening hours gives a bit of space to individuals that like a longer lie.
During our stay the electricity was off in the local area for a few hours, we were kept up to date by staff and we were offered support to get into town if needed. They also sent a technical member of staff to the room so that we could access items in the safe. If the staff were stressed by the power cut they didn’t show it, well done.
As part of our package we had access to a free film but for some reason our TV wasn’t working. Without hesitation they offered to move us to another room, when we said this wasn’t necessary we were provided with complementary hot drinks in our room.
Overall this was a first class hotel experience and I can’t wait for our next Crowne Plaza experience.

I have to say… one the of the nicest, if not the nicest, hotel that I have stayed at in the Netherlands.
It’s not in the city center, but if you are working around this hotel, then book it, and if you don’t mind a 10 – 15 minute tram ride downtown, then book it.
