Croissanterie Friends

This small shop is the perfect place to get breakfast or lunch with a friend. The coffee is delicious. I love their cappuccino. I had a sandwich there and it was pretty good too.

Die Croissanterie Friends heißt zwar nicht mehr so, den Bewertungen kann ich allerdings immer noch vollstens zustimmen. Die belegten Brötchen sind ein Traum und der Café dazu perfekt. Draußen gibt es sogar noch ein paar Plätzchen in der Sonne wenn sie denn dann scheint. Eignet sich perfekt für einen guten Start in den Tag.

Was a bit difficult to find at first because I was looking for Croassanterie but it only says «Freinds». The personnel is very very nice and the food is delicious. Highly recommended.

I was transiting in Amsterdam and took the train into the city early on a Sunday morning. Unilocal was great to let me know which places were open for breakfast at 7:30 am. Following a really nice stroll through the quiet canal streets from the station, I was made very welcome inside the small café.
The croissants, sandwiches, and fresh juices are really excellent. The espresso coffee could be a bit better, but overall this is a really great place to hang out for a while. I enjoyed the fast wifi too. After a few hours I then went for a walk back towards the station and did some cheese and chocolate shopping. A great transit.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place so much. This is one of the places in Amsterdam that I miss quite a bit! The food, the drinks, the staff, and the décor are all so wonderful! The people who work here are very friendly, and the service is great. Every time I stopped by, I ordered a cappuccino, and it was consistently delicious. The cappuccino here is one of the best I’ve ever had. I’ve tried their caprese tosti, and it’s as delicious as a caprese tosti can get. The ingredients tasted very fresh. Although our place was on the opposite side from this place, we trekked here countless times during our stay, and it was worth it every time!

No entiendo el hype. Todas las reseñas eran 5 estrellas. Yo le daría un 3.5.
Es lindo, buena onda y chiquito. Pero la comida no es nada del otro mundo y el café es bueno, pero no de los mejores que probé.
Esta pequeña (PEQUEÑÍSIMA) cafetería es parte adyacente del restaurante foodism (que tiene RE buenas reseñas también) y se especializan en café y algo de pastelería o sándwiches básicos.
Pedí un capuccino doble y un tostado de pesto, muzza y tomate. Se olvidaron el tostado y vino diez mil minutos después, estaba bien. Pero no se destacó.
El café rico, sí.
El lugar es muy chico, me sente en la barra que mira afuera (hacía demasiado frío para estar afuera, aunque tiene lindas mesitas) y después entraron 2 chicas a pedir café y ya casi que no entrábamos.
Vale aclarar, el baño hay que usar el del restaurante de al lado, algo bastante incómodo.

Wow! okay so I exited the airport and only had 6 hours in Amsterdam. And it was an afternoon in Amsterdam, I wish it were an evening! not much happening on a regular weekday, and I had ALREADY roamed the city on my previous 8-​hour layover.
I decided to choose this café because I knew I need: coffee, wifi, and food. And second, I haven’t explored this side of town.
Lemme tell you:
1) Walking from the Central station to here was an absolutely quiet, gorgeous, «I totally got away from the tourists! Woohoo!!» kind of walk. It was really, really good. By the time you reached the café, you’re not seeing the typical downtown anymore. The buildings are different, the streets are wider. It’s just a tad different.

2) there are no washrooms here. That’s important. To know. Especially after a GLASS of coffee (not a cup!!) and hours with wifi, I was like «f** really?»
3) The English menu exists! just find it.
Friendly friendly neighbourhood, the food is good. I liked my stroll here. The latte comes in a water glass (yay big!), the cookie was only okay.

Unfortunately, the wifi wasn’t working when I was there and that was the main reason I came to Friends. I also did not get the amazing service everyone has raved about, but oh wells, there are always off days. The location is a bit down the way from the main area of town so it was much quieter and right by the canals. I came on a bright sunny day so the small outside seating area was perfect. They have an extensive coffee menu and sandwiches/​toasts and I had a delicious latte and sandwich. For a great location and delectable offerings, they get a 4.

This is a tiny coffee shop we found near the Canal our house boat rental was located. The toast, and sandwiches are very tasty. The coffee is very good. They make fresh green juice. And the staff is very friendly.

Ein kleiner gemütlicher Laden, in dem es leckeren Cappucchino bzw. Schokolade gibt. Das Pestosandwich mit Ruccola, Tomaten und frischem selbstgemachten Basilikumpesto ist der Hammer. Ein sehr guter Laden um in den Tag zu starten, von dort aus kann man sehr gut eine Tour durch die westlichen Grachten starten.

Great coffe, nice and friendly service, fantastic special toast and chocolate/​apple muffins. You will love it!

I believe it’s now called Friends but the same place. I had a wonderful cup of Italian blend coffee — really good, notable. I also had their egg spinach quiche and its was really good as well. I’m going back for their cheese melts next. Definite recommend here.

As good as everyone says it is. I walked about two miles to check it out and the coffee is amazing! I asked the owner, who is so nice and speaks wonderful English, what his favorite dish was. He made me something incredible with spinach and feta. Absolute must.

UPDATE: I wrote a review for this place a few days back, and now feel compelled to write ANOTHER glowing review.
I did end up coming back to «Friends» 3 out of the 5 days I was in Amsterdam; the 2 days I didn’t, I genuinely wanted to but wasn’t able to. Why do I love this place so much?
1) the coffee. I’ve had both the latte and cappuccino, and both are amazing, creamy milk with delicious foam. YUM
2) the pastries. my first day I tried an apple muffin — the BEST muffin I’ve ever had. the next time, I wanted to try the chocolate muffin — i love love love chocolate — and it was also amazing. not quite as amazing as the apple, but great and tasty nonetheless. on my final visit, I NEEDED another apple pastry — ya know? — and it did not disappoint. again the best muffin ever.
3) the service. the same two people were working wag time I came in — I don’t think they’re the owners, though — and they were unbelievably friendly, helping me figure out the nearby trams, etc. on my last day, after noticing that I was a repeat customer, they treated me to a double latte for the price of a single. so nice! I ended up chatting with both of them when the shop was slow and they were kind, funny, and seemed genuinely interested in talking to me. such nice people.
this place is a quiet, cozy little coffee shop that you don’t want to miss while in Amsterdam. go go go!

There for just smoothies and coffee but so nice and charming. Staff super nice!

Friends is a delicious and friendly café on a canal. I recommend the pitta of the day and coffee. Oh, and get a view of the street and canal for some good people watching. Good for a vegetarian breakfast. They have fresh smoothies which I totally missed. If I go back, I’d check them out.

This is a great little café and was the first place we stopped by to eat upon getting to Amsterdam. The owner was welcoming and friendly. We were fine sitting indoors as it didn’t appear to be available seat out front. But the weather was insanely beautiful and he must have been in a great mood because he insisted we sit outside. He realized he ran out of available tables so he went inside and a few moments later came back out with a table and two chairs and set it up for us.
We sat outside, eating our sandwiches/​drinking out smoothie, soaking up the sunshine and watching the beautiful people of Amsterdam walk by. I love this city.

… internally plays in my mind when walking in this cute and random place along the outer Amsterdam ring otherwise known as Nassau. Coming here for the first time was quite the random event as well. After a nice boat ride through the canals, our bikes were parked nearby and we decided to warm up a bit with some coffee. Friends is small enough to have one big table, a small table and some tables outside. However, as I’m sure most of us would agree with, size DOES matter and the coffee their leaves such a large memorable impression that my mouth is sore (in a good way) for days!
It just goes to show, that good coffee doesn’t need to be drank in a super hipster green bio vegan self-​sustaining café using hand selected beans especially roasted in Ethiopia only to be drunk by non-​starving Europeans. No need to sip on your 5 minute drip coffee reading about the latest skateboarding trends through your fake thick rimmed reading glasses whilst sitting on restored wood chairs in an old remodeled former steel factory.
I also won’t write this review saying they have het lekkerste koffie in de HEEEEEEEEL heelal, but I can say it’s one of my favorite coffee in Amsterdam! The first time that pure black liquid invaded my mouth, I was actually shocked at the invasion of yumminess bombarding my caffeine crazed tongue. The food is also surprisingly good! They have pink frosting donuts like from the Simpsons, random cakes and my favorite spinach feta pies! Can we say lekker!
Either way, I have a feeling Friends will be my bff for a loooooooooooooooong time.

I only had a café latte here but it was DAMN good! So 5 stars for the coffee!

Awesome little place with a great view. Extremely nice server and the food was amazing. I had an español toastie and it was incredible. If you are in the area, I very much recommend this place for breakfast. From what I have heard as well, their full blown restaurant next door, Foodism, is amazing as well.
