My girlfriend and I went to Comfort Caffè for dinner on a Sunday because it was right near where the apartment I rented in Amsterdam was. We were happy to find a relatively affordable restaurant so close, and it offered a lot of what we wanted. She got basic spaghetti with marinara sauce and meatballs, and I got fettucinne. We were able to secure tap water with our initial order, although the wine selection was enticingly extensive. The main courses came in uniquely-shaped bowls that sort of resemble gravy ladles, which was great. The portions were large, too large for her, in fact, but I was satisfied. The only problem was that the menu wasn’t in English, and we kind of didn’t know exactly what to expect, but it was alright. I don’t like mushrooms, and the fettucinne came with some chopped mushrooms, but they blended with the sauce really well. The people next to us got dessert wine, and it looked pretty good, but we didn’t go for it. Also, it would’ve been nice to have some bread(brood) as an appetizer, but that was alright too. Overall, a very nice experience, and I would go again.

Great food, the place doesn’t look very nice though. A bit dark and old fashioned in a bad way.

Don’t know this area of Amsterdam so much, but had lunch with a friend who recommended this place and it was great. Had amazingly delicious truffle cream fettucine — the service was very good and the staff friendly. Next time I’m in the hood, would definitely return for more!

Went here with a few friends today to have lunch. I think this is a typical place that most Amsterdammers do not know about but is very loved by neighbourhood locals(like one of my friends). I had never heard of this place before but I can now tell that it is very nice. Food, service and prices are all great. I had a very nice latte macchiato and a great espresso. They have all kind of Italian sandwiches. I have tasted the sandwich of the week which was with a sort of spicy melted Italian cheese, some sort of ham and red pesto(don’t remember the name since it wasn’t on the menu.). Also tried the ‘Gedroogd runderstaartstuk met Parmigiano Reggiano kaas’, which is also a sort of ham with Parmigiano cheese. Loved them both. They also have some nice Italian beers. Comfort Caffe also has nice pasta dishes and salads. You can sit on their tiny terrace in the front, inside the spacious nice area inside of in their backside garden.
