This place is not hard to find, Google maps is your friend. This is one of the original Belgian(and now craft too) beer bars in Amsterdam. It’s small, it’s cramped, it doesn’t have much food… but it’s packed with charm. There are only a few cheap tasteless pilsners and lagers on the menu, and the music is barely ausible, so if you’re not hardcore about your beer, this is not the place for you.

Destination beer café during any trip to Amsterdam. Unbelievable selection of unique beers. Dark and cozy ambiance, which is exactly what I was looking for when I visited. I had some great Belgian and Dutch beers here. I did splurge on the Westvleteren 12 while visiting since I can’t find or buy in the U.S.

This place is hard to find. The street is only about three buildings in length. But, it is oh so worth the find. They have over 200 beers, most in the bottle. When I was there only European beers, no US brews. Bar staff knows their stuff and give good recommendations.

Really a 3.5. A good place for beer. I sort of felt like people were stuck up but I only speak English. My husband didn’t feel as put off by the bar tender. Lots of selection of beers. Prices seem kind of high but may be in keeping with this part of Amsterdam. Bathrooms weren’t terrible. I would probably come back.

Great beer selection and a cheese plate for a true cheesemonger!

Cute, cozy, and the best selection of beers I have found in the city. Service was friendly. It opens late but the hours are not posted on the door, I don’t think. Went here on two different days, and it was busy late(after midnight) on Saturday night but not too busy earlier in the evening on a Friday.

This place is just around the corner from our hotel at NH City Center so we almost always end up here for a nightcap. Albeit small and can feel a little bit of claustrophobic, this place has tons of great beer(mostly on bottle though since they don’t have many on tap). First I got the house IPA(Gollem IPA) which was very wonderful(trust me, I’m not an IPA fan) and later I got Russian Imperial Stout as recommendation from the bartender, that also tasted delicious. Bartender is friendly(and like any other establishment in Amsterdam, you get by fine with English) and you can pay by credit card(!! Very important for us from Scandinavia who are not used to carrying cash around !!) Do come to Gollem if you have time, and have the house IPA.

This is the type of place I’d want to be a local to. Its tiny and was full — but I enjoyed the charm it had. I had a great time sitting at the bar meeting other travelers. The bartender provided me with some great Dutch beers. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. This was my favorite stop in the 7 short hours I had here. I will go back again for sure!

Great place for an indoor beer. Not for those with claustrophobia. Bar tender is friendly as are the guests.

Lugar pequeno mas muito gostoso, com uma variedade imensa de cervejas e, o melhor, não é caro! :D

Ooooh this place is tiny — but on a regular day in an afternoon you’ll find a seat even if you might have to share the table with strangers. Cheers! Great selection of beers — both tap and bottles. Leave before the bladder is full because the toilets are cramped to get into — the ladies’ loo upstairs is literally in a tiny closet. If you even can get to it behind all the chairs and tables and people.

This place is a find, they have great beers in tap and in the cellar. The bartenders are knowledgable and have a passion for beers. Make sure you stop over, I know I did several time in the days I was in town. I will make sure to be back to sample some new beers next time too!

Great place for good beer. Pretty central and smaller than the one in De Pijp(but nicer ambience). Had qwak on tap and the nice Gollem IPA it had cheese and chorizo plates for beer snacks — would highly recommend. Didn’t see board games(they have these in the ones in De Pijp) but the fact it’s a little smaller and busier gave it a great buzz

Alright, Beer Fans, this is one not to be missed. The Gollem is a cozy beer nook tucked in a small ally, so you may have to do a little searching but it is so worth it. The specialize in Belgium beers but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find a precious Paulaner on tap.. And while we are at it Lord of the Rings fans, the one beer to rule them all here and in the tastiness bind them is nearly impossible to choose from this bar’s magical selection, but for today, I’d have to say that it is the Gollem’s own IPA with fruity notes and subtle hoppy flavor that will make happy that you stumbled on this hobbitesque bar. Yup, this hobbit was quite happy with this pub, and perhaps the only thing missing was Gandalf, but I’m sure that he is hanging out at some coffee shop down the street blowing smoke rings. But no matter, beer fans, for this place will soon have you thinking of it as your precious all day long.
