Café Frits

I’ll be straight with you Frits, i like you. A lot.
Despite of the age difference. You hang out with the young but you don’t mind serving the ehm not so young.
I like you’re cooking, well the burgers, not sure about the other dishes. But i always come back for the burgers. Sometimes you’re in a rush, like the other day, you apparently forgot to check that the burger still had a pulse.
You make up for it, if not with the chili burger, you make killing G&T’s. So good, i ordered another one. «Because mine never arrived!» I cried. You apologised and went straight back to the bar. And then my lovely friends mumbled «maybe finish, better yet start, this one first, it was served 5 min ago…»
Exit stage left…

Great location and menu. But the staff doesn’t seem to care about their guests. Staff is mostly focused on their phones and friends. Waited half an hour before someone would take our order.

I don’t know, I really don’t know what is wrong. From the first time I heard they were opening a burger joint right in front of my house I was sooooo stoked. But…
I just don’t like it. Been there a few times to have a drink and ate there two times. I’m not that much into alcohol, so I mostly drink coke. How much ice can you fit into a glass? I always have to ask for a little less ice and when I do I get funny looks. Drop the attitude, pleeeaase???
The burgers are not good. Bland, total lack of seasoning, you can’t taste the cheese and the way they are cooked differs so much that I wonder if the cooks even like what they are doing.
Such a waste.
If you are looking for a good burger, check out my review of Rotisserie. It pains me to say this, because I love Mercatorplein so much, but I can’t recommend Frits.
PS I even think the lamps over the tables are really annoying because they hang almost right in your face.
Oh, and if you are taller than average: avoid the lower tables.

What a nice find! Definitely going back. Relaxed, good beer (they have La Chouffe!), friendly and chatty people, lots of Dutchies :D
The bar takes up what seems like most of the place but there’s more space in the back. Also, the big bar is staffed with several bartenders so you’re sure to get your drinks quickly enough.
