Filled my void for Mexican food while in Amsterdam! The hot salsa here is delicious! I can just drink it! Service was impeccable– felt like we were at home. We started with the nacho supreme; I got the taco salad and my husband got the burrito. we did not leave a drop behind ;) We’ll definitely be frequenting here!

The food here sadly has not been given love by the chef. It’s not terrible but far from good. It tastes like they just slapped food together that has mexican qualities to it but without respect to the cuisine. Rice was definitely not fresh, beans were not bad and service thank god was decent. Two thumbs up for playing some Rolling Stones in the restaurant, making a good piña colada(which is not mexican btw but still yummy) and putting a decent amount of cheese on the dishes. I feel like this place has potential. Maybe Gordon Ramsey needs to come here and help them out? And lastly, the icing on the cake… the prices are ridiculous for the quality of food you get. If the food got a little more attention and love, this place would be a lovely place to grind on mexican food!

I went to Burrito strictly for the name. I was sort of thinking with that clever name it would be a fantastic tex-mex style burrito. On the contrary it was a fantastic Mexican style burrito. Smothered in cheese and sauce plus full of flavor. The owner was also full of flavor himself. He was always making jokes with a big smile on his face. Also ask for his recommendations, sometimes there are specials not on the menu. I’m not to sure about the atmosphere quite yet. It is festive for a Mexican restaurant that’s for sure, but it had a little bit of a snack shop feel. Regardless the food tasted good and the prices were not too bad.

You are in the mood for Mexican food. You realize you are in Amsterdam and not southern California, or Mexico for that matter. What do you do? Go to Café Burito, that’s what! Granted, the name of the restaurant could be a bit more inspired, but that lack of creativity has no bearing on the taste of the food and the style of the restaurant. After moving into my new apartment, very hungry and with no food in the fridge, my partner and I went here to order food to go. We sat at the bar and were happy that the restaurant was fairly full. We ordered a vegetarian chimichanga(fried burito) and a combo plate of one enchilada and one cheese quesadilla. The guy serving us, who seemed to be a combination of manager/owner perhaps, told me to get the combo rather than an entire portion of quesadilla. I’m glad he did! While we waited we watched margaritas being blended(the look great) and had a few laughs with the manager. We got home with our food and BAM! Huge portions. Tasty portions. Success! The food was really tasty, with sides of beans and rices and also a side of chips and salsa. The chimichanga was excellent, as was the enchilada. The least best thing was the quesadilla(tortilla not soft enough). All in all, when you are hungry and/or are looking for Mexican food, this place will not disappoint. I recommend eating at the restaurant, as the décor is also fun and trying to give an authentic feel. I’ll be back!
