C&A

«Get yourself down C&A and get a nice winter coat» was something I remember hearing a lot in my early childhood… trips to C&A for a winter coat were a rite of passage for kids where I’m from in the early 90’s. The only memories I have of C&A were a worn down old shop in Coventry’s lower precinct that must have closed down in 1993! After that, C&A was never seen or heard of in the UK again.
You can imagine my shock when I’m walking down Amsterdam’s main shopping streets to see a massive C&A store, complete with the old school C&A sign! I had to tell my friends straight away, and take a picture of the sign to prove it. No one could believe it. I walked in for nostalgia’s sake, only to walk out soon afterwards. It turns out the clothes in the store are still stuck in 1993 or so it would seem!
I didn’t end up buying anything, I don’t think I had any intention to, to be totally honest. I was just fascinated to see a long-​gone in the UK store in the middle of Amsterdam! My curiousity was piqued. :)

Stayed with some friends in Amsterdam that recommended we check out the nearby C&A. My husband & I are both tall & have a difficult time finding clothes that are long enough in the states. No problem here. I spent so much money here it was obscene. I have all sorts of people above normal height asking where I got my clothes. A good portion is from C&A in Amsterdam. I will definitely be back!

The first time I was introduced to C & A was last year when we went to Berlin, after a day of sightseeing we retired to our hotel room. Looking out of our window we saw a huge tall skyscraper in the middle of a plaza and decided to & check it out. Glad we did, the place was teeming with people from all sorts of life, tourist & locals just having a good time, listening to a live band, having Sausages, Frites & Beer, then it started to rain. We took refuge in a department store that turned out to be C & A. What great luck. Big sale was going on 30−50%, ended buy buying a ton of beautiful tops & pants for half the cost.
This time we were in Amsterdam, going around checking out the restaurants and shopping stores when we bumped into C & A again. With huge sales and discounts going on, who can resist those beautiful offers. Must have bought a dozen items from tops to skirts & pants. There are a lot of styles that surely caters to everybody from teens to grandmas alike and everything is trendy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Love this store, I’ll surely look around for a C & A store whenever I am in Europe, with all the pricey stuff around, this place sure is very reasonable & affordable. So look out for this store when you’re in Europe. Pretty sure your Euros will go a long way.
