It took me over a year but I finally found three items I was looking for at Blokker. The staff was very helpful and I appreciated that a lot. Expats and tourists should take note of these three items although you probably already knew that Blokker was the place to find these three items being ice cube trays, a lint brush and a sweater razor.

Blokker has all the cleaning supplies like Swiffers and window cleaners etc that you can’t get at the AH. Also they have toasters, french/frits fryers and air conditioners. and those little shopping buggies with wheels that you see people carrying their groceries. So get one if you just arrived here… especially if you live on the 3rd floor. Garbage cans are very stylish here and a serious collection, including metal hydraulic ones that are 100EUR. we don’t have that in Canada. so wow.

Find everything you need for the house and more… at dirt cheap price. The Store on Kalverstraat looks small from outside but it has 3 floors… so it is quite big. It gets VERY crowded. I still could not find the plug adapter from UK to European socket :(The y have the other way round.

What comes to mind when I think of Blokker is a mini version of Walmart. You can find some of your basic necessities there. Blokker is consider the low budget place to shop in the Netherlands. There is a Blokker located on almost every corner in Amsterdam. So it can’t be missed… If you miss one, well trust me, then you will run across another one soon. The first time I went to Blokker I was on a hunt for another curling iron. My $ 150 curling iron that I brought from the USA blew out real quick. You know I was devastated! So, I bought an inexpensive curling iron and blow dryer there until I could find a Paul Mitchell one. Blokker is like the dollar tree or 99 cent store that your intentions are to buy one item but then you come out with a bag of unnecessary things. They have a variety of retail items from houseware, electrical products, to touristy souvenirs. .
