I’m not really sure what to say… I saw the reviews on here and was expecting an amazing meal, but I was left wondering how these reviews came to be. Our meal was very disappointing! The scallops were a little raw and the french onion soup was a greasy broth with onions and a little cheese floating in it… you can really just skip it. The bread was sort of hard even though it was warm and fresh and it came with homemade garlic spread, which tasted just like a pile of garlic. Then we went on to the main course… baked fish in white wine sauce, or rather… some flavorless super dry white fish… bland as can be! We told the waitress and she replaced it with the veal in roquefort sauce, which sounds like it would have quite a bit of flavor, but it was another dull, disappointing dish… with big floppy mushroom pieces sitting on top of the veal, which tasted like dishwasher soap. The desert we chose was the cheese platter and well, they didn’t make it, only cut it, so it was ok. The waitress was quite friendly and we were honest about not liking the food, which she was going to tell the chef later. I wish I could give a more positive review, but the food is not good at all…

By far the best find of our trip to Amsterdam, our meal was delicious and the staff was friendly. I had initially been thinking about a steakhouse, but had been turned off from some of the nearby ones due to some reviews I read about horse meat scandals. I was still in the mood for steak though, so I had the Beef tenderloin steak and the onion soup. Other dishes we tried include: the tournedos, the fried shrimp appetizer, and the profiteroles and warm apple for dessert. The onion soup was fantastic — probably the best I’ve ever had. The bread on top was still crispy(unlike the sometimes soggy mess you’ll get at other restaurants). It was very flavorful and I generally recommend it. The tenderloin steak was very tender and cooked exactly as I asked. It came with bowls of vegetables, mashed potatoes, and frites. The tournedos and fried shrimp were both delicious as well. The profiteroles were just as tasty as the ones we’d had in Paris or in the best French restaurants in our area. The warm apple was great as well and was presented beautifully. It’s a different, lighter, dessert than often offered which was nice. The staff were very friendly and everything in the meal came as ordered. It’s a very small place(watch your head as you walk in) and we could easily have missed it if we hadn’t been looking for it. It’s a very sweet place though with cute decorations — dim lighting and holiday decorations around Christmas time — and it’s generally comfortable and cozy.

Great small hidden place, a few steps from Rembrandt Square, the food is top quality, delicious preparation and impeccable presentation, great atmosphere, cozy and good background music. The waitress is the best in town.

What a great find on a little side street off Utrechtsrasse. We just wandered by, checked out the menu and gave it a try. Our best meal of the trip. Fantastic Pâté, Carpaccio of Beef, salad, and steak. with a bottle of wine, all for about 60 Euro or so. My wife loved the lamps that looked like vaginas…(actually, they’re horse collars/yokes, but what I can I say. she has a dirty mind :)) Great service, friendly and there when you need them. no rushing or trying to flip tables. The food was fantastic, good prices, great ambiance. Give it a shot. it really beats the tourist traps close by in rembrant square

Charming little French bistro in central Amsterdam, well worth a visit when you need a little respite from Dutch pancakes and stroop waffles. As many a great restaurant reviewer will tell you; if the bread is good then the rest will be most likely of the same quality and this place was no exception. I had to stop myself from devouring the entire basket of warmed crusty bread and delicious salted butter. Snails to start, which although were a little on the small side were served in a delicious bubbling garlic sauce(perfect if you’ve managed to save any of the bread by this point…). The main course of beef steak was some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Not a piece of fat or sinew in sight and the meat literally melted in the mouth. Cooked to perfection! The restaurant has a very family-run style and is long and narrow with a second dining area under a stone archway. There’s a good selection from the bar and the house red wine we ordered was far too gulpable! The only negtive was at the end of our meal when the(new) waiter thought it necessary to become rather too informal and although he was just attempting to have a friendly banter, did it in a way which wasn’t really what I’d expect after a delicious meal and romantic cosy evening. The chocolate mousse to end the meal was a very good choice and the rich chocolate taste lingered in my mouth all evening. Price-wise, the 3 course set menu was good value at around 30 Euros inc. service. If you’re lucky(and like cats) then you might even spot the owner’s black cat who meandered through the restaurant at the end of the evening and was happy to accept strokes from willing volunteers.
