For Dutch see below. A nice café for a drink at the bar, or perhaps at a table. They have a wide range of different kinds of wine(at least the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio were very tasteful). They offer draught beers depending on the season. During the afternoon it can be quite busy, don’t be surprised if there’s no space and you have to go. The waiters were very casual, which benefits the atmosphere. Concluding: A café which is worth a visit to have a drink.

This place was a last ditch stop to find food near my houseboat in Amsterdam. This area, being more residential than tourist had almost no late food. In the end I had a couple of beers here. They did normally have food, but the kitchen was closed for remodeling. I gave up on the food and just had a couple of beers, sitting outside to watch the crowd go by. The staff was nice, if inattentive. There was nothing special to recommend or not this establishment.

The atmosphere is comfortable, which is my favorite thing about this spot. The food is decent, service is friendly, and there are lots of places to sit inside and outside. The people watching views are good, too.

can’t wait for the summertime, they have good seating places outside, with a great view over the canal. As it was cold today, I spent my time indoors. Great atmosphere, good staff, great place to sit down and have a chat. Now the tricky part, why 4 stars? Ok, bear with me on this: on the end of the afternoon, someone who really likes ceremonies asked to turn on the TV at some monarchy celebration at church. This might seem innocent but think about it, every single person on the bar had to stop listening to the soothing sounds of the music on some radio to listen to the church choir praising the some Angel, thanking for the joy of having an Argentinean queen and a new king. Not my ideal setting: P Second, the seating arrangements inside. They decided it was a great idea to shove an enormous table next to the window, completely blocking anyone trying to sit next to it. Funny to see all the gymnastics involved in the act of sitting down on a regular chair(needless to say, I was part of it). I don’t give 5 stars so easily, I have to pick on something ;)

This was the first place I visited when I arrived in Amsterdam last year. Although it was only for drinks at the bar. It was right around the corner from my temporary apartment, so I stopped in a couple of times. I always had great attentive service from the bartenders and they even helped with my Dutch as I was starting to learn. Great selection of drinks and they also have a nice selection of bar snacks, if you are not joining them for dinner. Recently went back for dinner before going to a show at Carré. Again, it was a great experience. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was tasty and came out pretty quickly. I had the Ravioli van Ruccola en Pomodori. It was flavorful and, since I ordered the large portion, very filling! Topped it all off with a brownie. Perfect.

I stayed in the Bridge Hotel a few streets away and we found this gem! It was a Friday and the place was beginning to buzz. I came here for dinner. The soup of the day was a creamy tomato soup. Deliciousness. I had the pan seared halibut. Excellent. This is an excellent bar with a diverse clientele and a great neighborhood. Great bar with a great selection.
