For my 100th review, I chose the beautiful Amstel. Every time I bike over one of the bridges, go for a walk along the Amstel, or experience it from a boat, I think… how beautiful is this place! There’s nothing in particular to do along the Amstel in the center, but the views and the feeling you get taking them in is what Amsterdam is all about. Sometimes, there’s an event going on and you can stand there and watch for a long time… or a boat is going through and you watch the bridges go up… it’s definitely special.

The main canal in Amsterdam… beautiful… lively… lot of stuff all the time… nice in spring/summer for a drink on one of the terraces, romantic and melancholic in winter with the fog and the dark… any season gives the Amstel canal the right mood. I was there last night for Festival of Lights and yet again a great show.

One of my favorite places to be in Amsterdam is near the Amstel River. You can get a glimpse of almost anything there. The Amstel River is one of the most special and serene places to be in Amsterdam. There are so many insightful things to see along this famous river. For example, the landscape where Rembrandt found his inspiration. The Amstel River is one of the best places to cycle on Dutch landscape. You will run across so many cyclist, runners and rowing clubs breaking a sweat. If you have a true appreciation for nature, then you will be blown away by the Dutch Polders. You can enjoy a 20 mile bike ride, specially design for those who want to enjoy Dutch landscape along the river. You will run across lovely windmills, cosy little villages, and pubs. Along the bike route there are a few places for food and drinks. It is amazing how fast you are out of the city when your cycling straight along the river. Spring, Summer and Autumn, every season has something special going on along the Amstel.

Popular bar. It gets PACKED with people during any time of the week, ESPECIALLY if the weather is good, even decent! Mixed-aged crowd, from youngbucks to old stags. I believe the beer here is cheaper than bottled water… No gas, no gas!
