Very bad attitude. To be honest, food is not bad, however, Way too busy and too crowed to enjoy your dinner. You rarely get any services from the waitresses .not recommend at all!

Tanuki has been established for a long time in Amstelveen but perhaps it is very much underrated… it is a wonderfully located restaurant with a beautiful atmosphere, nice floor heating, great food and so much cheaper than an eat-all-you-can place, very pleasant service… the food was lovely and fresh… a real 5-star Japanese restaurant that I recommend to anyone

Love the food and service. Udon is exactly what we can have in Japan. Fish is very fresh. Service lady is very nice and well taking care our two young children. Now we know where to have good Japanese food in Amsterdam. Best so far.

Great food, nice people. One thing: first order always arrives as expected, however when you place an additional order it can get lost in translation.

Great restaurant, option to sit at a table or on your knees. Good choice in food. Got the sashimi choice of the chef. Better option than the all you can eat restaurant at a some what higher price point.

I don’t usually start reviews whilst still sitting in the restaurant, but Tanuki deserves this kind of attention. I’ve been in Amsterdam for 6 weeks now and I haven’t had any Asian food(I’ve had KBBQ, Sichuan, phở, Indonesian, «asian», and boba LOL) that’s made me say«wow!» This is the first place that I can say is as good as what I’m used to in Los Angeles. I had the tekka-don, which is marinated sashimi tuna over rice — the fish was fresh and the rice was the correct temperature. There was a light, sweet soy coating the whole thing. 4⁄5 stars. I also ordered some yakitori — the chicken leg meat with spring onions was nothing short of relevatory. The pork belly yakitori I ordered was pretty amazing too. The place is difficult to find — it’s tucked into a hidden corner of the mall but it’s worth searching for.

Absolutely loved this place! Food is great: freshly made. Great sushi, great grill. The place is a little hidden, right behind the shopping area and trees. The service is okish — very average(for Dutch standards).

Really great Japanese restaurant with a very large, diverse and surprising menu… my fave is the Gyukushi. I sampled a bit from other dishes I might not normally try or like, and it was all delicious. The place is crazy busy so a reservation is highly recommended(we tried to go there once spontaneously and were politely turned away as they were packed) — considering how busy it was, however, the service was still very good. When you arrive, it’s uncomfortable in the front of the restaurant as there is really no space for people who are waiting to be seated, so people are always squeezing past to leave and get by(almost removed a star for that but had a change of heart — this is Holland, after all, and space is not in plentiful supply) — but once you’re seated, it’s all good — and you can smell all sorts of great things since the open kitchen is in plain view so you can watch the chefs in action. Reasonable prices as well.

Bueniiiisimo!
