Blend is basically a student bar right next to a hostel. Though it’s the provider of the free meal one gets at the Nomads hostel next door, its primary purpose is surely to cater to the teenage/early 20s «party crowd”/they who measure a good night in terms of alcohol consumed, and to compensate for the«lame» prohibition of alcohol in the hostel. Expect cheap shots, wine and beer($ 5) and posters proudly boasting of said cheap booze«to get the party started.» In the evenings you can expect raucous drinking games(beer pong is a regular) while the Venga Boys blast out. If you’re fortunate enough to be in the vicinity around the midnight closing time, you can expect to be treated to the triumphant bellows of drunk punters still high on their ‘gaming achievements’. Obviously Blend is not a purveyor of quality stuff. My request to taste the tap ales was met with raised eyebrows, and with probably good reason: I may as well been comparing Bud Ice to Fosters — tasteless beers further suppressed by a cold temperature. So, Blend ain’t my scene. But in all fairness it’s well-run, doesn’t make claims it doesn’t deliver and the food is good enough. Hence why I’m rating it A-OK. And if you’re in its target market, you may well consider it better than that.

This bar is conveniently located near the Nomad Hostel. Drinks are cheap– $ 5 well drinks and shots! And the $ 15 dinner menu is pretty good! The bartenders are friendly. The music is an interesting collection of American 90s music videos and European House. All together– a fun place for a night out with friends!
