The Thoroughbred

Had the steak burger and it was very delightful. Fresh full of flavour and the chef came out to say hi. Im coming back to try their lamb shank there raving about. I will keep you posted.

Just had the lamb shank. Loved it. just what you need for a cold winters night. Lamb Shank on a bed of mashed potato with carrots and celery and an amazing gravy with red wine based sauce and a side of green peas. $ 10.00 and a second lamb shank for $ 18.00. Chef is very down to earth and has been chefing for a long time and from what he told me knows the ropes. that is reflected by his food. Well done and thank you for the great meal. Just remember The Thoroughbred is a south auckland pub with this little makeshift dining room on the side. Service is from the bar staff so its not the best. But you go here for the food and flavour not the day core or service.
