Great Breakfast, amazing benedict! Wish we would have had more time in the area to have another meal. We were staying down the street and the hotel recommended for us to go there. Finished Breakfast and went for a walk in the rose garden wonderful morning

5 Returned to Rosie in Parnell this week for a delightful brunch catch-up. Rosie, just like the other hip group ventures(think Ortolana and Café on Kohi) has a wonderful escape-like quality about it, lending a luxurious holiday mood which makes the hustle and bustle of the rest of your day momentarily melt away whist you enjoy your meal. Featured above is their seasonal Nut Granola with Honeycomb, Passionfruit and a Yoghurt Panna Cotta. I also treated myself to one of their fabulous Chocolate-Coconut Smoothies. The granola has a fantastic toastiness about it, and when combined with the yoghurt Panna cotta just elevated the dish to the next level. The passion fruit was a master stroke, adding a much needed contrast to the sweetness of the honey comb. All in all another unsurprisingly quality experience

Always a winner. Incredible food, amazing coffee, service with a smile. The Butchers Sausage is my go-to and highly recommended. Enjoy!

This is where the prime minister apparently pulled some girls ponytail if your into any of that gossip. Aside from the icebreaker this café isn’t one to miss. Breakfast is great and I’ve sampled most of the menu. Smoothies are excellent and their lemon tart is divine. You might be in for a wait however so I would try going off peak.

As expected at another Hip Group café– it’s all clean cut lines in their interior with beautiful stone and tiled walls and clean, open kitchen with upper class feels that’s appropriate for an occasion. It sits right on the corner and is essentially a glass box with two floor to ceiling glass panels. Would be wonderful in summer. Lovely woven leather backed couches and chairs as well as pops of colour from the cushioned stools. A gorgeous leaf crown light feature in the centre of the room against the venetian panelled ceiling. Rather busy but it’s great for a hearty, filling meal that is also a feast on the eyes. Ordered their smashed herbed eggs and it came on a heavy, dark gray oval plate like a piece of artwork with a swirl of their fascinating, delicious green sauce, strips of house-made chewy halloumi and almonds. Friend got their Butchers sausage, poached egg, agria hash which was tasty and also beautiful to look at. Sparkling water on the table that kept getting topped up by the lovely waiters around all the time in their cute sky blue aprons. They have beautiful Milse style sweets and savoury panini sandwiches in the cabinet. Definitely curious about the salted caramel hot chocolate– for next time. Be warned parking is awful and you might have to circle the nearby streets for a park but definitely worth the food here.

It’s nice close to the rose garden and u can get parking! Tables quite close to each other. Service was very good, food is nice but not as introduced like top xxx something, but tasty. I guess the location gives more score than the actual food. Dessert are quite normal u can find from like store or ortolans I guess they got the same supplier. So I did not order dessert as I was expecting some own made one.

Updated review: Mom went there with friends today. Kitchen staff were wearing casual clothing with no hair protection. Food was awful and had to be remade, but still wasn’t anywhere close to what they were. Service was great despite the food. Not sure if they changed management or just gave up…

Great service, delicious food. Local favourite! Open from early(if the lights are on, they’ll make you coffee!) until later(before 8.30pm) Rosie offers a wonderful neighbourhood café & restaurant with unusual but delicious food pairings, a small but intelligent wine list and a lovely, bright locale near the Parnell Rose Gardens. Although on busy weekends you generally have to wait for a table, they do try to hurry any coffee/drinks orders for those waiting outside, unlike so many cafes. And while the menu can appear a bit ‘busy’ they are always happy to just make you the basics like poached eggs on toast or customise any of their dishes, where possible. Love that flexibility by the chef!

We went there for a sat lunch, sister in law have been waiting outside for 30 mins with young kid and been told we are 10 mins away from getting a table. There is a total of 6 of us, and we were finally seated after one hour of waiting. Food are good but abit to salty for my taste and having to wait for that long for a table, I think I prefer going to other similar café such as St heliers café…

The green juice made up from kale, cucumber and apple is healthy, delicious and energising. Yum!

Rosie is virtually identical to some other really good cafes in town(Ortolana, The Store, Café on Kohi, Takapuna Beach Café etc) that they are probably owned by the same people or part of the same group. The coffee is fantastic. I haven’t had that good a long black for ages. Service is always professional and attentive — and I am a sucker for constant refills of sparkling water. The food is great and the menu is very unorthodox for breakfast. You won’t find standard breakfast items here. The closest are green eggs benedict, a sausage/egg/potato rosti dish and a smoked fish omelette. However, the best dishes are those you wouldn’t normally get for breakfast. I had mushrooms, poached eggs and truffled feta. The combination was fantastic. The other menu items looked fresh, tasty and out of the square and I can’t wait to go back and try them! My go to place in Parnell for the moment

Perched on a corner site in a genteel neighbourhood in Parnell, the newly refurbished Rosehip café was already abuzz with lunch time diners when I visited. The design is effortlessly stylish, like their other all-day eateries — St Heliers Bay Bistro and Ortolana. Seating is a relaxed assortment of sturdy chocolate brown woven leather chairs which you could smell was still new leather. With a mix of colourful coiled rope ottomans. We enjoyed a plate of dark pieces of short rib so meltingly soft and intensely rich in paired with squares of crispy celeriac and sprightly brussels sprouts. To finish we shared a pumpkin and ginger frian and an interesting modern twist to a chocolate lamington with mock cream and raspberry layers. Very delightful and what would you know — gluten free. The service was fantastic and friendly and I would go back in a heartbeat.

I don’t know if it’s because I was expecting a cabinet brimming with gelato or that anything Hip Group that’s NOT Ortolana doesn’t seem to cut it butttt… I was a bit disappointed with Rosie. Here’s why: 1. No gelato(sad face). Not sure why they’ve chosen not to carry their signature frozen dessert but it was hot and balmy and I was really just looking for an excuse to get a scoop.(Note: there IS definitely coconut gelato behind the scenes as it’s an ingredient in the chocolate & chocolate smoothie…) 2. Lack of cabinet salads. The cabinet food consisted of sandwiches and desserts only(at least the day I was here) 3. Price. $ 15 for granola? Really? Yeah, it was topped with nice rhubarb, honey and a dollop of chia seed yogurt but…15 bucks… too much. 4. Wait time. We all know Auckland loves the HG’s institutions but still, waiting 20 mins for a yogurt is a liiiitle absurd, What I learned: Will stick with a smoothie($ 7) next time — they had some delicious-sounding flavors such as malt & honey, superberry & flaxseed and I’m told they can make any of them dairy free too :)

I selected Rosie for lunch after reading the reviews, so I was eagerly expecting a similarly positive experience as I’ve had at their sister restaurant, Ortalana on each of my prior occasions. I’m sorry to report I was severely underwhelmed. This is a bustling, compact restaurant with tables very close together, as in a diner. No reservations are taken, and wait times for a lunchtime table could be 10 – 20 minutes. I was seated at one of the narrow tables for two, and the wait staff was very patient and did not pressure me to order, as I awaited the arrival of my friend. After occupying the table for 30 minutes, I then ordered my lunch(unfortunately sans friend). Lunch for me were two starter plates(entrée portions). The menu isn’t very clear on the portion size, so best to clarify with your server. Both items were brought out at the same time: Zucchini flowers, feta & pine nuts @ $ 18, and the Tartine of smoked kingfish, gribiche, and fennel @ $ 19(see photos). After being served, I queried the server about the three zucchini flowers that were on my plate, as it looked very skimpy and I saw other plates go to other diners with more flowers(see photo). She replied that it had to do with the size of the flowers, thus only three for me. I accepted this explanation without further comment. Yet, about five minutes later, the manager came over and presented two more flowers on the house. Though the second serving of the flowers was most appreciated, they were served cold, and this is the type of dish that needs to be served hot(or very warm at a minimum). Regardless, the flavors were pleasant, and I particularly enjoyed my first few bites. The smoked fish tartine is really an open faced sandwich. There was entirely too much gribiche served, and it completely over-powered the fish. Gribiche is a mayonnaise sauce made with hard-boiled eggs instead of raw, with the addition of capers, chervil, gherkins, and Worcestershire. This sauce was very heavy on the mayonnaise, and I could not detect any Worcestershire to balance out the sweet. Most diners need to order a starter and a main, though the two entrees(starter plates) provided an acceptable portion size for lunch. However, for a $ 37 lunch, I thought the value was missing. Bottom line: I do not plan on returning.

I walked in and knew I had hit the jackpot! Recommended as one of the best cafes of 2014 by Metro, Rosie is a step above other bacon and egg cafes and focuses on creating visual masterpieces that your tummy will enjoy. It’s clear that it’s a favourite with the locals, as the place was humming with energy of walkers, old friends, families and solo coffee goers. We luckily scored a table big enough for 4 at the back. The round tables are good for groups but limited chair movement means you have to do a polite tango dance to get out. The menu is a sight for sore eyes with a more contemporary mix. I enjoyed the poached eggs with heirloom tomatos, parmesan and bread crumbs($ 19). Not what I initially expected, but then again Rosie is nothing close to boring. It was presented beautifully and all ingredients complemented each other. I washed it down with a mixed berry and flaxseed smoothie which was a great way to get my antioxidants. The service was bang on and our cute waitress was always smiling and on the ball. Water glasses were filled up, plates were cleared promptly and questions were answered. Although Rosie is on the expensive side, if you’re getting a bit bored with the usual cafes, this will inspire you.

food here is amazing, service was superb and the design is even better! All our dishes were delicious, flavourful and presented so beautifully. I can’t remember much from the other companions orders but my was delicious! They recommended me a cocoa coconut smoothie and gosh it was soooooo yum that everyone on my table was stealing it to «taste» that i wasn’t left with much ! I ordered the market fish and it was so fresh, sweet and succulent. The texture was perfect with a slight crisp from grilling. the flavours were all there and everything sat on a healthy ancient grain salad. Would i go back? YES, definitely! Although waits here a excruciatingly long, they take care of you and make sure you stay hydrated while you wait. very thoughtful!

As with any Hip Group eatery, you’ll recognise Rosie by the contemporary décor and clean lines that attract young people for being effortlessly chic. If you’re like me and you love Ortolana, you’ll love the softer and more relaxed atmosphere here. There’s detail in everything! If I could take something home, I’d go for the woven brown chairs that on one hand are beautiful and elegant, but are firm and practical enough to sit and eat on. With an open kitchen stretched across the front, it gives you the illusion that you had walked into someone’s elaborate dining room with a beautiful chandelier in the middle. Cabinet displays full of beautiful desserts lie across the front and it makes me want to come back to Rosie during the day to experience the café culture. Like other menus found at other Hip Group eateries, the menu almost looks like a shopping list, which to the undiscerning eye — can look like a jumble of ingredients. For some reason, you’ll feel assured that the chef has a purpose for throwing the bunch of uncommon ingredients together. This can be refreshing, it can also put people out of their comfort zone — not knowing exactly what to expect out of the kitchen! The lamb was beautiful and melted in my mouth. Even with the pieces sprawled across the plate artistically, you actually get a lot of meat on the menu. My only gripe was that the sauce was bit sour and overpowered the natural sweetness of the lamb. The boys ordered«spatchcock» in an attempt to be adventurous to try something unfamiliar. Which turned out to be chicken. Boys being boys, they joked about it looking like KFC chicken on a plate, but so much more succulent and without the grease. That’s a tick! Be warned, the dessert sizes are big! If you’re already full from the meal and crave something sweet, I would opt for something from the cabinet instead. The combination of flavours were creative and the promised«celery root» adorned the top of the brulee. It reminds me of the dried persimmon I used to make at home — sweet and chewy. Away from the central buzz in Parnell, it makes for easy meet and eat. I’m a fan of dining places that serve fresh and contemporary food. A place where you can sit back and relax after a day’s hard work without going through the pulse of the city hub. One visit isn’t enough to satisfy — I’ll be back during the day to try more!

Rosie is another wonderful café from The Hip Group. The menu follows similar suit to their other eateries, with breakfast and lunch options presented beautifully. I have actually come twice now and the food hasn’t disappointed. The two top pics are actually the same dish, though mine on the right is no egg but with mushrooms — eek as i don’t like eggs. The one on the left also has the sauce on the side. They are the beef brisket with potato galette. Absoultly delicious, great cooking temperature and both $ 18 — great value for money. I was def feeling stuffed after that. One downside that bothered me — it was served in a bowl! I realise that these are the«in trends» but its a pain and inconvenient. Serve my dish on a plate please. The pulled beef tartine below — also $ 18 was not really value for money. Its a a shame because it actually tasted really nice. Great texture and flavour but I was left still hungry. I ordered this when they first opened so the dish may have improved in size — not sure? Dessert was great. I don’t normally like cinnamon but i would recommend this sponge as it isn’t over powering in flavour. One other improvement I think is the smoothie may need more malt — you wouldn’t know its malt and honey otherwise. Overall service was attentive and friendly. Great warm atmosphere and beautiful décor. Btw love their open kitchen!
