Basin Reserve

The Basin is the oldest cricket ground in New Zealand and one of the best places to watch a test match. The first test match to be played here was against England in 1930. I have fond memories of sitting under the Pohutukawa trees and watching the Black Caps in action with my dad, brother-​in-​law and nephews! My best memory would have to be watching Kumar Sangakkara score his 12000^th test run and 11^th double century, here in January (2015).
The New Zealand cricket museum is located in the old grandstand. Worth a visit, if you love the game!
You can’t miss the Basin Reserve, as it sits at the intersection point for the Wellington suburbs of Mount Cook, Newtown and Mount Victoria — it literally forms a giant roundabout!
