Formula E is the newest kid on the block in the Auckland indoor karting scene. It’s out in the Airport Oaks area so not the most convenient for most of us, but then let’s be honest, kart tracks necessarily occupy out-​of-​the-​way industrial premises. The reason you’ll come all the way out to this particular venue is the shiny new track and electric karts which the owners claim are the fastest in New Zealand. They are undoubtedly impressive and definitely a tad quicker than what you’re used to at other places. You pay for the privilege though, with the per-​minute rate comparing unfavourably to other tracks like Highbrook. Also I found the track a bit slippery when I first visited (probably because it was new). Still, it’s a great deal of fun, but your primal side does miss the smell of petrol at other venues a bit!
