Before Kumeu became too commercialised with industrial buildings and warehouses, it was a small village, rich with charm and character. Tourists used to frequent the town and visit the little stores dotted along the main thoroughfare. Kumeu’s luster might be fading, but it is still worth a visit, you just need to search for the tiny gems in a mine of commercial exploitation. One such a gem is Something Old /Something New, a tiny antique store, filled with history and value. No visit to Kumeu would be complete without setting foot in this store, and if you’re lucky, you will find something that will forever make Kumeu part of your life. I love the old wooden instruments, and I’ve already made some of them part of my life.
