Amazing knife cut lamb noodles. The broth is amazing. Great and quick service as well!

One of my favourite cheap eats place in Auckland. As a Chinese I found this place to be very authentic, the flavours are wonderful and spot on. A little greasy but that’s normal for most Chinese food. I visit here on a weekly basis. Please remember this is a cheap eats Chinese restaurant, do not bring high expectation on service, cleanliness as the standard is a fair representation of what it is really like dining in a Chinese restaurant in China. I love it!

Had this place on my bookmark list for a while and finally got to try it. It definitely lived up to the expectation. Seating– We came here on a busy Sunday lunch time. it was packed but they still managed to find us a place to sit upstairs. They have a mixture of 2, 4 seat tables, and larger round tables. Not a lot of space between Food– the menu is a bit overwhelming. They have 200 items on the list!!! Most people seem to get #106 sensational spicy chicken served with noodles. They are famous for their in house made noodles, so you definitely have to try some kind of a noodle dish. They are famous for their lamb kebabs also. The highlight for me was #31 beef and noodles with spicy sauce per the waiter’s recommendation. it was definitely very tasty. Noodles were well done, tender, juicy, and balanced flavor. I love #184 spicy beef and tripes. They use more cumin than I am used to getting the same dish from Sichuan restaurants but the flavor is definitely very balanced, not too much peppercorn so you can still taste other dishes. I also got the lamb burger, but wasn’t too exciting, would be nice if it was a little juicer. Service– friendly, but in general its self serviced. you get your own cup, drinks, chopsticks, etc. No complaining though. Price– acceptable. $ 10 – 15 for those dishes design for one person, and $ 20 – 40 for the share stuff. Will definitely come back. I will have to walk pass more tables and ask people what they are having the next time.

A-Ok is right on the mark in my opionion… some food has been good and some food not so good, some service has been good and some not so good… I would not hesitate to go back again, however it is not my first pick for dinner out along Dominion Road. P. S. Cool tables:)

Outstanding dumplings(steamed) and potato salad. Just as good as the others on dominion road. Looking forward to trying a noodle soup in winter.

Now if your a dominion road local you’ll know there’s some fierce competition up and down that road. Shaolin Kung fu noodle is pretty run of the mill when it comes to service and setting, and their dumplings aren’t my personal favourite on the strip. But their spicy chicken Kung fu noodle soup is on a whole other level, though it did have some questionable looking«chicken» floating around in it and one noodle looked like it could have been a shoe lace in a past life, the flavour was amazing. I would just drink the soup, no «chicken» or shoe laces needed.

Don’t judge the book by it’s cover, the place doesn’t looks very nice and the staff is not particularly friendly but their dumplings are amongst my favourite from anywhere around, the food is authentic and the price more than reasonable!

This used to be one of our regular favourite eating places but not so much now due to the price going up noticeably. But still we do go now and then as the food is good, the service is okay and the area is good for finding a car park. Their dumplings are amongst my favourite from anywhere around and 大盘鸡(the big plate chicken) is delicious. Is a lot of the time when we go busy but they have more seats upstairs so need to worry about finding somewhere to sit.

Don’t judge the book by its cover! If you are standing outside this place, you wouldn’t be tempted to go in at all. I came here only after a friend recommendation. The food is authentic and the staff is much more friendlier than other Asian based restaurant. The part of China where these dishes come from, they are largely Muslim based so there’s no pork here. Their specialty though is lamb. Must try the lamb skewers and if you stand the heat then try out the spicy shaved noodles.

Whilst not the cheapest dumpling shop on dominion road, and not providing the friendliest of service(standard for these parts) Shaolin Kung Fu do some of the better noodles I’ve had. The noodles are hand pulled in the main dining area(there are more seats upstairs) and thick and delicious. The Xinjiang lamb fried noodles, as well as all their soups are what keep me coming back week after week(often more than once). The dumplings are also very good, though you don’t get quite as many as you do for the price as some other places. All in all this is a very good shop, and my regular haunt down here.

Shaolin Kung Fu Noodle is cheap and cheerful with a few vegetarian options. It looks small from the outside and whenever I go past it is always full but there are lots of tables upstairs. The menu is extensive and after much deliberation we ordered the Xingjiang Lamb Fried Noodles, Kung Fu Dry Noodles with Eggs, Braised Lamb with Spring Onion, Stir Fried Chicken with Cashews and Vegetables, Lamb & Fennel Dumplings and Vegetable & Egg Dumplings. We had a few communication issues with our server as there is not a drinks menu(or we weren’t given one) and as we were seated upstairs could not see the drinks selection but nothing major. The hand pulled noodles are fantastic and I would definitely go out of my way to get them again. The Xingjiang Lamb Fried Noodles was the stand out dish, it had just the right amount of heat for me(although it was much too spicy for one of my friends), and it had great flavour with lots of cumin. The dumplings were also great with a generous amount of fennel. The dumplings are larger than average and are filled right to the edge of the pastry with meat without that air bubble that gets filled with steam and were not greasy at all. The Braised Lamb with Spring Onion and Stir Fried Chicken with cashews were average and a bit on the greasy side. The portions were substantial and were unable to finish most of the dishes but our friendly server provided us with take away containers — leftover dumplings for lunch, score! The table next to us had ordered the spring onion pizza and Chinese Lamb burger which both looked delicious so I think I will have to try them next time.

Grab any noodle dishes, but avoid anything else as it is pretty average, having said that the hand pulled noodles are worth the visit!

The only place that provides Chinese and Muslim friendly food on Dominion Food as it is operated by the Hui ethnic group of China, an ethnic minority group. No pork. Don’t bring your own food in. Not the flashest but cheap and huge varieties. Don’t ask for awesome services though. Not why they are there in the first place.

Reviewing this place is almost a waste of time. You’ve read the name of the restaurant — what more information could you possibly need? Best name ever! Go there now. However, if that’s not enough for you(perhaps you’re not a martial arts-obsessed 14-year-old boy), then rest assured that the food is also very good. Lots of noodle dishes, as the name suggests, and a seaweed salad that I personally recommend. Prices are ridiculously cheap given the quality and quantity — two people can gorge themselves on a variety of filling treats for less than thirty bucks. And if there’s an attack by a neighbouring warlord, you’ll be in the safest place in Auckland.
