I am falling in love with this place. This little coffee represent everything that i like in a coffee shop and remember me my favorites coffee places in France. This little place is really cosy with a little«hipster» touch, the staff is always smiling, the latte is delicious, they make some good pastrys and propose a various menu for lunch with a strong mexican influence, some burgers and lot of vegan– free gluten options. The perfect place to strat your day or make a little brunch

With pulled pork burritos and curly fries, how can you not want to come. Awesome atmosphere and staff.

There’s not much to fault about this place, for the friendly staff, to the great counter food options, and the Mexican themed an other breakfast brunch and lunch options. Highly recommended. In fact this is my first Unilocal review and I made sure I came here first…

Love the coffee, I’ve always found it to be reliable; love the food, the bacon butty(such a weakness of mine!) is delicious fatty goodness… But I find the service a bit hit and miss. It’s pretty hipster — if anyone else reading this went to Otago Uni, I feel a Modaks vibe here, though minus the saggy couches. If you’re looking for a good takeaway coffee close to the bus stop, it’s perfect.

Yum food, friendly and casual staff, weird framed dog pictures on the wall, a love for spicy-ness. Pretty good, could be cheaper!

Breakfast Burrito’s on the weekend? I was sold as soon as I heard about it. Then I went along to a hot dog eating contest and decided I had come close to finding a spritual home. Vinyl is small, which means it can get pretty packed out on said weekend mornings, as people try to stave off the impending hangover with food. I have a tendency to order way too many extras, thus pushing my account balance further into overdraft and my pant size a further hole down the belt. But it’s worth it. They are also the only place I’ve been to that do iced coffee with soy ice cream. This can not be underrated as rather then leaving you with a mucus laced mouth and throat, you can feel semi healthy as well as looking cool.

This is a really great little café that offers an all day breakfast menu(an instant hit with me), home baked goodies which I believe differ from day to day, delicious looking cabinet food and lots of other things you can purchase such as hot chocolate mix and hot sauce. Their hot sauce was amazing, they made their own batch that you could purchase. I bought mine as a gift for my boyfriend and he just loved it! If you order something from their cabinet, they put it on a plate for you and often add sauce and salad, nice touch! They also offer lots of vegetarian/vegan options which I think is something we need more of in Auckland! Their food is really really good here seriously and they also cater! As well as hiring out their groovy little venue for private functions.

This place annoyed me on principle before I went there because it was called Vinyl and that made me think it was a try-hard hipster wannabe café like Big Beat or Hard Luck Café. But then I went to Vinyl and discovered that actually my hatred was unfounded. Despite the name this is a really lovely and unpretentious little café(and I do mean little). The staff are really friendly and easy-going, and the coffee was excellent. It’s been said by other reviewers but it bears repeating, the menu does a good job of catering to vegetarians, so if you’re that way inclined you won’t struggle to find something not drenched in bacon and lumps of cow. They close early though so don’t leave it too late to stop in.

Vinyl makes curly fries and that’s about all you need to know. The café is small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in punch. The coffee is good. The service is with a smile for sure. The food is pretty great — it has Mexican influences. There’s all day breakfast, and a tonne of vegetarian options for those not partial to the flesh of animals(YUM). I don’t even really like Mexican that much and I still enjoyed my meal. That’s saying something. I had the breakfast salad. It wasn’t mind-blowing but it was bloody good, and they even let me do a side of those curly fries I love.(I feel like salad and fries balance each other out in terms of ‘healthiness’.) I actually attempted to go back for those curly fries last week, but had a complete fail due to their kitchen closing at 2:00pm.I walked in the door at 2:45pm only to find the chairs being stacked and an apologetic look on the waitresses face. On the upside, said waitress stopped me to tell me she recognised me and reads my blog and that I am awesome, so that was enough for me to stop feeling bad about missing out.

A tiny café on Dominion Road with a fantastic vegetarian/vegan selection. Had an amazing breakfast burrito; a friend and I halved it and it was the perfect amount. But only because it really was breakfast time and I’m usually a small portion breakfaster — had I been brunching or lunching(or, hungover) I definitely could have devoured the whole thing. It was no problem to have sour cream on the side so that I could still enjoy its dairy goodness without making my vegan friend hate on me. The child in me was disappointed about the lack of milkshake/smoothie/iced chocolate options(although let’s be clear, I’m talking about my «inner child» and not a secret unborn baby) but the drinks menu is otherwise sufficiently filled with the usual teas and coffees and there’s a cold drinks fridge with juices and the like. Also, thumbs up to the friendly and helpful staff.
