I lived in New York long enough to become a total pizza snob so it takes a lot to impress me and honestly, not a lot in Australasia has. And yet, one bite of Toto’s has changed my tune. I didn’t order so I’m not too sure but it has pine nuts, basil and mushrooms and tasted amazing! The crust was perfect: not thin crust, good amount of carbs but also not too doughy. The toppings mixed well with whatever sauce and cheese was used. I got that all important umami mouth feel(is that just me?) The other pizza toppings looked amazing but I was too slow. A groups of programmers demolished four of the huge meter long pizzas in no time at all. Testament to how delicious they are. Seriously wish I had some more.

Yet another place in Auckland at which I was a frequent flier, and for good reason! Toto’s meter-long pizzas are OUTOFTHISWORLD! I’ve never had a pizza experience quite like this before. For starters, I’m sorry Kiwis, but as an American, I can tell you there is literally not a single legitimately good pizza place in New Zealand; that is except for Toto’s.(Side note: Sal’s is NOT good, and it is NOTNY pizza. Sal’s marketing themselves as NY pizza is as heinous a crime as would be Pizza Hut marketing themselves as Italian) Not only does Toto’s match the best pizza I’ve had in the States, it exceeds it! The meter-long pizzas are one-of-a-kind. They’re not only crafted with the most delicious combinations of flavors and toppings, but they are HUGE too, and can feed 4 people easy. If you want pizza in Auckland, you really have no other choice but to visit Toto’s, but that’s not a bad thing at all! I’d say Toto’s is one of the top 3 things I miss most about NZ!

Agree with Jaime G on this one, not much beats a metre-long Boscaiola pizza! This vege pizza has just the right amount of toppings — mushrooms, mozzarella, baby spinach, roasted pine nuts, cream(not v. much), parmesan and a drizzle of truffle oil. Trust me, it’s delicious and feeds around 4, which at $ 44 a pop, ain’t bad. They also do ½ and ½ on their metre pizza and they deliver — you would struggle to find a more perfect party snack!

Nothing in the world tops a toto metre long boscaoli(spelt that wrong) pizza!!! mouth watering deliciousness!!! Perfect if your having a couple of people over and want take out without that slimy pizza feel afterwards — beautiful tasty gourmet toppings but still simple tastes and flavours. You can also get half half pizzas but I haven’t tried that. I can’t recommend it any more you just have to try it … Call them now!

One metre of Toto’s pizza = one metre of tasty pizza good times. I don’t think I can really top the pizza tips below, as they are very comprehensive, but I’d like to add: some of these pizzas have anchovies on them. They are real, proper anchovies, so if you don’t like them, check your slice carefully as it can be an unpleasant surprise if you bit into an otherwise delicious slice and get a mouthful of horrible salty fish.(I’m not a fan of anchovies). Plus, they often drop leftover food to the City Mission(obviously not off people’s plates, but stuff that hasn’t sold) so thumbs up for that.

I have never eaten a proper meal at Toto’s, but on several occasions I have indulged in their metres of pizza to go. They come in a metre long box(which is about 40 cm wide, in case you were wondering), and they are delicious. I would almost go as far to say that Toto’s pizza by the metre is the best pizza I’ve ever had. It’s 10:30pm as I write this and I haven’t had dinner right now so thinking about it is making me crazy. Crazy enough to write you some Toto’s tips. Handy Toto’s Pizza Guide for first-timers: — They are not open on Sunday or Monday so don’t bother calling.(BOO!) — If ordering on a Friday or Saturday night, make sure to do so well in advance, you could be waiting for a while. — You can order online. — Open weekday lunchtimes = better work lunches. — Although delivery is available, it’s not always reliable. You never know if they can actually deliver. Just pick it up. — The potato croquettes are a winner. More so than the arancini. Always choose croquettes over arancini. — You can also order beer over the phone/online with your pizza if you’re lazy and you need everything in one place. — A metre has 20 slices. It will feed at least 5 hungry people. I say it would feed 7 comfortably. — The cheapest metre of pizza is $ 36. The most expensive is $ 49. — D’oro(ham, cheese, cream, rosemary, onions) is the best. The mushroom pizza is also very, very good, as is the prawn with pesto and zucchini and the italian sausage with broccoli. I can’t vouch for the others flavours as I haven’t tried them. — You can do half and half pizzas, just ask. — If you have leftovers, they taste best if you fry the slices(topping side up, obviously) in a pan over a low-medium heat. Trust me, it’s the best. Why are you even still reading this? Just get one! You won’t regret it, I promise.

This place is famous for good Italian food, but more so for its 1 metre long pizzas. We have had them for loads of work functions and they always go down a treat. And they aren’t too badly priced either, I guess you’re bulk buying really! But they aren’t the kind of gross, New York style pizzas, some how you feel healthy when eating them. This is probably down to the ingredients, they’re fresh, gourmet and traditionally Italian. My favourite is the Pollo it has roast chicken, caponata, eggplant, zucchini, capsicum, red onions, celery, tomato, olives, capers, mozzarella. Wow. I’ve also dined in the restaurant a few times and it’s always so good. I love their potato crochets, it’s like biting into a little morsel of goodness. I would definitely recommend Toto if you’re looking for a bit or a gourmet night in by the telly, or a fancy evening out.
