awesome music great crowd… ! its kinda hidden and diagonally oppsite car park (CLUB) .i really enjoyed the music here. pop in if you re cruisng in the city of sails on a saturday night :)

I felt a little James Bond esque on a reconnaissance mission when I rocked up to Spy Bar on the weekend. Being a small town girl myself, the idea of an ‘underground’ bar was pretty scintillating!
Sadly I couldn’t concentrate on much at all as I was so busy sweating through my layers of clothing while I was here, seriously this place is like an oven! Probably best to save this place for further exploration until wintertime.
As it was, it’s a pretty decent Little bar. Good house music. You can feel the bass pumping through your body.
A lot of older men in suits eyeing up the younger girls while I was there, so I tended to avoid eye contact with strangers!

Spy has a reputation for being an ominous, after hours bar. I had heard a lot about this bar before I ever went there for the first time not too long ago and pretty much all the descriptions were true. It is underground and so far it seems that all the dirtiest clubs are. This is another place you come to in the wee hours of Saturday or Sunday morning, the intense house music ensures you are always on your feet and feeling alive.
The crowd is extremely diverse — to sum it up in my 2 experiences I have had here it seems there are 3 kinds of people. 1. Slutty, fake girls. 2. Body builder/​steroid addicted guys and 3. old, weird, crazy people that seem to be stuck in an acid trip.

Yes this is the house music hidden jewel of Auckland Central, has been around a good few years, and very popular with the late night clubbers who like to have a few drinks and party on into the early morning.
It is a super cool nightclub/​bar to hang at– however the crowd it pulls range from the early twenties to early forties.
It’s underground, and can get quite heated on the dance floor as the bodies groove away.
Great DJ’s rotate throughout the weeks, and you can enjoy great cocktails, and any beverage you can imagine from the highly skilled staff.
Perhaps if you’re rolling in the money host your own private VIP party?

Do you like house music? Do you dress to impress or at least have swag? Do you like to party from late until the early morning? Then Spy is the place for you.
It’s a little bit underground, literally, as it is in a basement, but also all the signage and street frontage are subtle, like they’re saying if you’re not cool enough to know we’re here already, then don’t come in.
If you don’t hear «members only» at the door, and make it down the stairs, then a little bit of Auckland party heaven awaits you. It’s pretty dark and small, but the dance floor, seating and bar areas are just big and well-​lit enough to party the night away in.
