My daughters love riding and we are so pleased to have discovered Sonshine Ranch, a Christian camp for boys and girls who love to ride. The facility is amazing with wide open fields for horses to ride on as well as four horseriding arenas. The barn was recently renovated and is a really modern place for groups to gather for meals and sharing time. The sleeping quarters are just fine, 10 per cabin. There is also a new playground. Staff are so friendly, very welcoming and ever once have my girls missed home when they’ve been there. The 4 day 3 night holiday camps are just amazing, including horse riding sessions and activities involving archery, rock climbing, glow worm trail, confidence course, orienteering, flying fox, rope swing, camp fires, etc. The sunrises and sunsets are beautiful.

I visited this place quite a lot as a kid. Mainly for the horse riding lessons but I remember there was this awesome flying fox and rope swing too. My horse’s name was Prince. He was this beautiful snowy white colour and so gentle. All the horses were extremely well mannered, and the ranch staff match kids up with the best horse based on their confidence, experience level and size(smaller horses for smaller kiddies, naturally). The lesson was well-paced, never ever felt rushed and the tutors were always on hand. It looks like this place has expanded dramatically over the years(gosh — am I really that old?!). It is now not just a ranch, but an ‘Outdoor Adventure Centre’. I see now that they do Water Confidence courses, school camps and kayaking too. I am also overjoyed to see that the flying fox is still there(seriously. I wish I was a kid again just for that flying fox). Judging by my experience there as well as the glowing testimonials, I highly recommend this place to combat school holiday boredom.
