Ruby Red Cafe

Excellent breakfast. The big breakfast is exactly that, yummy poached eggs, toast, fried potatoes. The toasted muesli with fresh fruit, nuts, yogurt was lovely. Excellent coffee and tea. Good price, much better than our overpriced hotel breakfast buffet.

Ruby Red is a very good café: the type that I’m sure most suburbs wished they had. It’s relaxed and unpretentious (you can get mince on toast) but is sophisticated enough to make it feel like you’re in a place that actually cares about what they are doing. They also use very good fresh ingredients; the lemon slice is one of the few I’ve had that tastes like it has real lemon in it; of course this makes it delicious.
The décor is simple yet stylish: simple wooden chairs and tables and red walls, as you’d expect! Like other cafes along here, most of the seating is outside on the wide footpath, which is very civilised.
My only reservation is that I wish they had a few more options for people who don’t want an egg based breakfast.
