I didn’t like Ramen until I discovered this place; now I love it. Super quick service, fresh food, and on the Metro Top lists for best Auckland Cheap Eats. Definitely worth a visit to find out why for yourself! Great menu to choose from with GF options. Can highly recommend the Vegetable Dumplings(even the strictly meat-loving BF loved these). The Karagee Chicken is also fantastic. Because this place has such a great reputation, it gets extremely busy. Best to get in early to avoid a long wait and/or being turned away.

A cute/compact ramen noodle bar in Browns Bay. We drove to eat here from Takapuna after seeing a TV show ages ago recommending it for the hand made noodles. They are superb. You have to order ramen of some sort if you eat here. The service was super prompt. The food lovely. We arrived around 8:30pm and the place went from busy to empty and closing in an hour. I was having a brilliant day, so it was romantic and enjoyable. Daytime might not look so pretty.

This one of the best ramen place I discover in Auckland. Price very reasonable around $ 12 – 15. And their ramen texture is one of the best, soup base is tasty and not too greasy where lots other ramen place I’ve been to. Very nice staff and super quick delivery of food… Our food appear 5 mins after we ordered! Nice seating too. But remember to book during weekends. The place seems to get very busy after 6.

So i’ve been told this place does the best ramen. Yes and No. Not sure if that’s because i usually find shio ramen and shoyu ramen quite bland? but i’ve tried it here and its nothing amazing. HOWEVER their tonkotsu ramen is the best i’ve had in Auckland. And that’s that how i’ve been slowly judging ramen shops… based on how they do their tonkotsu. Some places still have fatty pieces floating around in the soup… and its a lot of it too. Some of it is too fusion and just doesn’t taste right… but this place. the soup is milky and so smooth with no floaty fatty bits… and the balance in flavour is so good. it doesn’t become too overpowering and too salty like others do either. This is my no.1 spot for my tonkotsu cravings. I also love how you can chose curly or straight ramen noodles! Also tried their tuna tataki and the flavours are very very very tasty and extremely fresh. I love the fresh baby seaweed they include into the salad that comes with the dish. Finished this dish in a matter of seconds. Would definitely recommend for the tonkotsu ramen lovers!

Cozy little spot in Browns Bay, Walk in, take a seat and you will feel somewhere lost in Japan. Nice and comprehensive menu for ramen lovers. You have lots of choice such as the first Soy Sauce Ramen-If you don’t know what to choose, always choose the first item on the menu, you wouldn’t regret. And also the pork Ramen with creamy savoury soup to indulge yourself. Hmm, I would say there is more to treat your tastebud such as fried chicken pieces, Gyoza with cabbage&pork stuffing. Pairing a draft beer. Then walk out into the sunshine breeze, you are back in New Zealand. However, your stomach and heart already left in that little space. PS: Service is excellent. Good English, nice communication and good-looking waitor. ^^

Dinner with the family here– been meaning to go for a while after a friend recommended their home-made ramen. So glad we did– can see why it’s on the Metro cheap eats and it’s also yum! Got Takara’s original ramen noodles: their Shoyu Ramen which came in a large bowl. Lots of tasty soup with either thin, straight or thick, curly noodles topped with a piece of charshu braised pork, half a boiled egg, bamboo shoots, bok choy & chopped pieces of spring onion. Could have easily drank all of their soup alone but the noodles were so filling. The egg was good, only wished there were more of the pork and interesting mix of salad. Got to try the soup for the Kaisen Ramen which is their seafood noodles; very unique and tasty. Had edamame on the side as well as Japanese green tea which came in an authentic old school style tea pot. Takeaway available and noticed the gradually filling up of the tables as we had our dinner. Quite popular. Would be interested to see the other flavours available after trying their classic and intrigued by their dessert menu. Worth a visit if you’re in the mood for ramen!

Takara was my favourite Japanese restaurant before. However I visit 2 weeks ago, menu bit changed and taste like Chinese noodle, also there are some Chinese noodle on their menu. I like Chinese noodle as well, but when I visited there, I expected Japanese style. Taste was not bad, Takara is still good in North shore but I prefer previous menu and taste.

Great little Japanese restaurant in Browns Bay. Great for ramen, donburi and small plates. They currently don’t offer sushi or bento boxes on their menu so if you’re after those items specifically, you’ll need to go somewhere else. Their food is always fresh, tasty & delivered to the table promptly. Staff are always very friendly & smiling.

I have been to Ramen Takara many times in the past and have enjoyed every visit I have ever made there, the staff are all very kind and courteous, the food is very reasonably priced and enjoyable, though a large proportion of their dishes are, not surprisingly, Ramen and Udon dishes, though other menu items are available. The restaurant has also undergone a significant revamp, having been expanded to take up the space that was occupied by an indian restaurant connected to the premises, the space having been utilised for more tables and a full bar, allowing patrons to order drinks to accompany their meals. If you are looking for a economical and filling meal and an enjoyable atmosphere, this place is DEFINITELY worth checking out. Expect to pay around $ 10 to $ 15 for a bowl of Ramen, depending on the style and toppings.
