Great reputation however that’s where it stops. The staff are awful the food is worse reheated I don’t even think the chefs are Italian although it claims to be. Totally over rated there are plenty better Italian restaurants in Auckland close to this. Position is great right in Mission Bay and could make the most of it but unfortunately they are still riding on old reputation before it became a franchise. Simply put don’t waste your money here.

A bit over priced for an OK meal. Could have cooked it myself. Service was friendly if a bit forced. The staff seemed a bit bored. Sort of up market setting but no wow factor. Easy parking and Mission Bay is a great area to walk around.

This year I had my Christmas work social at Portifina. When I arrived I was the first one there from our group. I was met by one of the staff and asked if I would like a drink at the bar whilst waiting for the rest of the group to arrive. They set up a bar tab and served us straight away. The bartender was expert. She was quick and polite and kept an eye on us so as more arrived they were welcomed with drink options. By the time we got seated the restaurant was in full swing. Great atmosphere and energy. Our meals arrived in good time from the extensive menu. The food was excellent! Not one complaint from a group of 14. The portions were large without doubt so go with a good appetite! The Parma ham entrée is most generous. Portifina has a great location on the main junction in Mission Bay. Great food and vibe in the centre of the town. Will definitely go back.

For delicious pasta in a fancy setting, you can’t really go past Portofinos. I’ve gone to the one in Mission Bay and also the one in the Viaduct in town and have never had a bad experience. Both are right next to the water and the décor is lovely and clean, and twinkling fairy lights give it a nice atmosphere at night. The meals are always very big and filling and I highly recommend the Rigatoni Portofino for vegetarians, which is just divine. Portofino is a great place for quiet intimate dinners and group dinners alike, it’s versatility knows no bounds.
