Just love love that place. First location location location. In the wharf fronting the Sea it is simply stunning. With sunshine it is outstanding. Services is young but still very good and really yummy especially for breakfast. A lot of varieties and never been disappointed by the quality. A fav for Sunday long brunch… and well few sips of wine :)

Gr8 location. So so food. Surly eastern euro staff. Not all of them but some. This place seems to have high staff turnover and not focused on training staff in nice manners. Just get a beer and appetiser and hang out. Not a great place for a full on meal. Salads are ok. Nice décor.

We have only ever had drinks in this place. It has always been during the summer when it’s so good to sit outside and watch the world go by. They have loads of outdoor seating and it is a relaxing vibe especially if you get to hide out from the sun under one of their umbrellas. This is a tapas restaurant and there were quite a lot of people sampling the fare, which is a good sign. The staff are very attentive and friendly. We were given water along with our drinks and the staff popped out every so often to see if we needed a top up. We showed some restraint and stuck to one drink . I would definitely stop by for a drink and some people watching on a sunny day.

Terrible and very over priced food. Lazy chefs capitalising on a great location. Average wine list. This restaurant needs to rethink its menu, execution and overall presentation. Please save yourself the experience and book elsewhere.

Went for farewell drinks and rounds of tapas at Pescado on a Tuesday night. Initially there was a warm welcome for our group of 10. Only two waiters so when another large group came in we were largely ignored and had to wait 20 minutes for our next round of drinks as had to go up to the bar and ask for service. The food was all right. What surprised me was that it having Spanish cuisine there were three Indian chefs and two Indian waiters. Go figure. Overall experience was all right but will give it a miss next time.

Did a brunch here & the service was great! Beautiful vibes while sitting outside on the waterfront of Wynyard Quarter, my friend & I enjoyed a cup of coffee & a filled croissant(though we asked for bacon instead of a chicken filling — it is half breakfast afterall!). The staff were attentive and very willing to please, despite having a half full restaurant on a Saturday morning. Afterwards, we opted for a walk around Silo Park Markets, which are just a hop, skip & a jump from there. Great and friendly atmosphere on all fronts made the morning very pleasant. :)

We were meeting friends for a Sunday brunch and found that our first choice on North Wharf(Wynyard Quarter) wasn’t open until 11.30am(we’d arranged to meet at 10.30am!). So we popped into Pescado and they could accommodate us no problem. It’s a great spot on the North Wharf but it was raining and cold so we sought dry and warmth inside. The surroundings are inviting and cosy. Service was prompt, water poured and coffee orders taken straight away. The menu is fairly standard but for something a little bit different I was drawn to the Spanish Big Breakfast — baked chorizo, spinach, beans, tomato, scrambled egg & hash brown on ciabatta. My companions had the rather more standard Gluten free breakfast — poached eggs on gluten free bread, streaky bacon, hash brown & grilled tomato and the Bacon & eggs & streaky bacon, on toasted ciabatta with grilled tomato & hash brown. The Spanish eggs were very tasty; the others described their meals as ok but nothing special. A small point if I was to criticise — the hash browns were what you’d buy in the supermarket and seemed to come in the middle of everything. I always appreciate restaurants that make their own! I think that’s how I would characterise Pescado: ok but nothing special.

Having been to see the latest exhibition at Silo No.6 on a hot Summer’s afternoon, a friend and I were in desperate need of a drink and a debrief. Although neither of us had heard of Pescado it was close by and had plenty of waterside seating available — Done and done! Figuring it was a Mediterranean /Spanish restaurant, we opted for a jug of sangria($ 30)…when in Rome, right?! Wrong. The jug was smaller than what was explained by our waiter and the sangria was served sans ice(as was our water), which on a balmy afternoon meant that any subtle fruit notes were dominate by nasty, cheap, warm red wine. As for the service, it was patchy. It took what felt like an eternity for someone to take our order and once our drinks arrived the waiter(s) were nowhere to be seen! The only saving grace, in my opinion, was the young man playing sutry(Spanish?) tunes on his guitar. Muy caliente!

If it’s a sunny weekend, Wynyard Quarter is pretty busy, but Pescado tapas appears to be popular all week. It’s situated at the very end of a row of restaurants in front of the fish market(if you are coming from the CBD) which makes it a little walk from town but that walk is worth it. The menu is a little higher in price than other tapas offerings in the city but the unique location and view are pretty special. The Chorizo with chickpeas and the feta spring rolls were the highlights but the Patatas Bravas were a disappointment, just like super deep fried roast potatoes. Good, but the price and the potatoes knock the experience down a little. I would avoid this area at the weekend, unless you don’t mind the hustle and bustle of tourism, but it’s very pleasant at during the week.

Pescado is the westernmost of the row of new restaurants that opened a couple of years back on Wynyard Quarter’s North Wharf. Like everywhere on the wharf, the waterfront views are lovely and there’s always plenty of people on a stroll that give the surrounds life. Food-wise, Pescado is always one of those places that always seems to promise slightly more than it delivers. I’ve done both tapas and mains here on different occasions, and there’s been good dishes and average dishes. A chicken breast main was slightly overcooked my first time here, while some of the tapas dishes weren’t all that tasty and somehow not quite fresh. Nonetheless, it’s a good price for the location and what a location at that.

A big group of us went to Wynyard Quarter to dine at Jack Tars, we didn’t book however and that was silly because it was completely full. We were left not knowing where to go so we walked along the Wynyard Quarter concourse until we came across a restaurant that suited us. This happened to be Pescado which is at the far end. They are classed as a mediterranean tapas bar but a few in our group also got large dinner sized meals. When we first sat down our waiter came over and I just didn’t like him, that sounds horrible but I found him to be very blunt and a little bit rude, I was slightly embarrassed because we were entertaining Australian vistors and they didn’t like him either. When we were ordering he asked us to order easy things because the chef was very stressed??? Anyway that aside we started with bread and dips, they were nice definitely not top of my list but they were enjoyable. After we had ordered our mains we waited around 25 mins and nothing had arrived, then the waiter came over and said are we ready for mains now he will place the order!!! Needless to say we were not impressed as it was getting late by this stage. Another 25 mins went by and we received our meals. I had chosen their sauteed chorizo, chickpeas and button mushroom tapas plate. It was really tasty, but the majority of the meal was the sausage, there were about 5 slices of mushroom and four chickpeas so I had hoped for more of the other ingredients. The main meals were expensive in my opinion with the eye fillet costing $ 34. They had a live singer who was quite entertaining, but all up I didn’t really enjoy my evening here and I won’t be going back.

Pescado has to be one of the busiest spots in the new Wynyard Quarter. Perhaps it is it’s handy location, at the end of the row next to Silo Park, but whatever it is it brings in punters by the dozen. The food at Pescado is mostly tapas style with a few mains thrown in for good measure. I’ve been there a few times and tried both. All of the food is nice, but a little underwhelming. Not the best quality ingredients or the best seasoning, but certainly good to eat. The service is a little patchy; always plenty of staff on but different levels of professionalism displayed.
