Great setting in the old Seafarers building which has been beautifully converted. We came here for a drink with overseas friends and were directed to the terace bar which is over the Tyler Street side. We asked if we could sit on the ocean side and were told that we would need to ask the hostess. I then asked the server to kindly check for me but were told by the hostess that dinner service was about to start. I found this a shame as they clearly had room and might have chose to stay for dinner.

The Ostro City Terrace is a beautiful spot for an after-​work drink. Concrete floors, floor to ceiling windows and plenty of bar space. It even has a great, little balcony for all those dirty smokers. I must warn you though, the bar or ‘terrace’ area does back onto Tyler St so the views aren’t spectacular (you need to book at the restaurant to be seated w a harbour view).
As for the drinks — delicious and affordable. Cocktails are on average $ 15, which in Auckland is reasonable, especially in Britomart. More often than not, I’ll leave it up to the bartenders to whip something up. Last time I was there I had a delicious spiced rum concoction, the name of which escapes me!
One final note, the clientele of Ostro is rather corporate — definitely more smart casual than straight casual. I’m not sure if they’d turn people away but I wouldn’t be turning up in jandals and stubbies.

Elegant, sophisticated and chic are words that come to mind when I think of Ostro — I have only been here for drinks on their terrace and a few tapas but it is now my fav spot in downtown Britomart. The furnishings are modern and tasteful without being ostentatious and the crowd is a nice mix of corporate suits and city goers out to enjoy themselves. The restaurant faces the harbour and the bar/​terrace faces the city and has the sun in the afternoon — I haven’t eaten at the restaurant but I have only heard great things. The tapas at the bar are mouth watering though. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere with an upmarket style, menu and atmosphere. My next review will be on the restaurant itself
