Nosh Greenlane

Nosh Food Market is definitely a favourite haunt of mine. They have seven stores in NZ: five in Auckland, one in Matakana and one in Mt Maunganui. All stores open seven days, fabulous!
I normally go to Greenlane, Ponsonby metro or Glen Innes (amazing) stores. Can’t resist and/​or go past the feta-​stuffed olives, ugly bagels, Black Rock meats or American pretzels. Stock great (international) wines and olive oils too!
Yep…there are usually samplers inside too. This time it was dips and beverages. I left Nosh $ 30 lighter, with a few treats!
Great service and VIP card too.

Great place to do some grocery shopping, most items are either same priced or a bit more dear than doing your shopping at the supermarket, but the products and ingredients here are always top-​notch.
The staff here are more than friendly and will assist you with a great smile.

Something is wrong lately? The selecton is small, the fruit and vegetables look sad, and the staff is just meh!!!

This Nosh is just down the road from me so its really handy if I ever need to grab something quickly but that’s about it. It’s much smaller than the other nosh locations and it just doesn’t seem to have as much stock. They have the basic items and brands but not as much variety. Their fruit and vege section is pretty great, they are definitely better quality than supermarket veggies and of course they stock the $ 2 milk which is what makes nosh so amazing. The car park is really small here but there is a side street near by which has some good spaces. You can also only access from one side of the road which can be a bit of a pain. This place really is convenient though, great if you just want to pop in and out.

Whenever I’m feeling like making dinner a little fancy, I’ll head along to Nosh for a bit of inspiration and end up coming away with a bunch of scrumptious items to make the meal really special. One of my favourite things to check out is the on-​special pasta — there always seems to be something on sale that looks or tastes a little bit different to your average, run-​of-​the-​mill carb staple. Another favourite of mine is Israeli couscous — Nosh is about one of the only places you can get this. It’s different to the couscous you get in supermarkets — it’s much bigger and chewier and really takes on the flavours you cook it in; I like adding Moroccan spices or cooking it in a little bit of vege stock.

You don’t have to be scared of speciality or upmarket supermarket stores like Nosh. In fact, you can actually incorporate it into your weekly shopping routine, you just have to know how to make it work for you.
Yes, if you go in there and buy all of their expensive cuts of meat, hugely marked-​up jars of chutneys and jams and then grab a few cheeses for your next dinner party, chances are you’ll be shocked by the final tally. But if you shop smartly, and seasonally, often the prices are lower than what you’d find at your local Countdown or Pak n Save.
The other day I was in Pak n Save and I thought $ 3.99 for a whole pumpkin was quite a good deal, so I picked one up. The next day I was in Nosh to grab something else and they had pumpkin for sale for $ 0.90/kg. I thought I was going to be fooled by the sheer weight of a pumpkin but for $ 1.91 I purchased a pumpkin roughly the same size as the one I paid over double for at the supermarket.
When avocados are in season you can often find good deals such as 4 for $ 3 when they’re $ 2.49 each at Countdown.

Nosh is a gourmet supermarket that has everything from fresh fruit, a butcher, seafood, a bakery, dairy products, wine and much more. Although on the expensive side, Nosh is a place you go to pay for quality of products and for its immaculate presentation, unlike what you might find at your local Pak n Save.
At Nosh you can be sure that you’re being allured in by only the best food there is out there. Both healthy and organic options, Nosh stock only those items that are of best quality. Greenlane Nosh is one of the smaller Nosh food markets, yet you’ll be satisfied by the large selection of items they have in store.
Greenlane Nosh occasionally hosts market days where they have tastings of their products on offer. This is an easy way for them to upsell their products as some may be hesitant to buy something they’ve never tried before (especially when it’s on the expensive side).
