Newmarket Park

There’s something about Newmarket Park that I just don’t really like. Possibly, it’s that it doesn’t feel as well cared for as some of the other parks in the city (Western Springs or the Domain for example). I think the thing with it is that it feels a bit half-​arsed. There’s no play area as such, only the one large climbing web (which definitely wouldn’t be enough to keep them entertained for any length of time), a handful of benches to sit on and no signposts once you get in the park to tell you how to get out of it, so I found myself walking round and round and finding nothing but dead-​ends instead of the exit into Newmarket, then got lost agin further along the park and ended up the middle of a residential area rather than around Broadway like I hoped!
If you’re looking for a decent park, there are loads dotted around the city but this certainly isn’t one of them. It’s a shame, considering people fought so hard to keep it as a park rather than getting built upon, I just feel like it needs a draw to get people to go visit it.
