Great for basics at good prices, love finding little bargains within their racks. Myself and my partner hit Kmart to stock up on uni clothes each season

Cheap shoes. Cheap dresses. Cheap appliances. Maybe it’s because we don’t have K Mart back home, but I get excited to go here when I’m back in NZ. This is my go to spot when I need some quick supplies visiting my in laws. Forgot my jandals? No problem. $ 7 at KMart. Need some new swimmies? Cheap ones here that aren’t ridiculous. Need new summery dresses for cheap? Yep. Golden. And then grab a cheap kapiti on the way out the door and your life is made.

Kmart is all about getting the basics of life under one roof. I’m always impressed by the prices of their appliances, such as doughnut makers, candy floss machines and your simple kettle as well. Not that I’m deluded that they’re good quality, but it’s very handy if you just need something quick and only have a few dollars to spare. Botany Downs Kmart is situated in a really easy to access spot next to some other great stores, and of course, the shopping centre across the road. I tend to buy singlets, lingere and sometimes the odd pair of pjs from here, as the prices are a steal and the quality isn’t too bad either.

I think like a lot of discount stores such as the Warehouse and PaknSave, K Mart is rather bad for the soul. You walk around and look at a lot of tatty items and you say to yourself, I don’t think I really need any of this rubbish in my house. I can’t speak for the women’s clothes but the men’s are tat. I bought a t shirt there once and though it was only ten bucks, it was very unflattering and made me look far heavier than I actually am. I do concede that there are plenty of good bargains here. My wife buys her hair dye here which is considerably cheaper than the pharmacy. It’s also good for birthday cards — quite cheap and a big selection. The chocolate and chips are very cheap here too so if you were having a bunch of kids around, you could stock up on all this here. We do go to K Mart from time to time but when I leave the store, I often feel a tiny part of me has died in there.

It seems like it’s a big budget store with a load of tacky items but Kmart is actually really good. They sell just about everything — clothing, homeware, toys, books, beauty products, lingerie, electronics — the list is exhaustive. And although their products tend to be cheap, they aren’t tacky. I actually like going to Kmart to buy clothing basics like singlets, socks, trackies and things like that. They’re good quality and most definitely wont break the bank. Aside from the basics, they also have some pretty nice stuff too in terms of clothing — I bought my sister this really cool green top here once and she loves it. The beauty of Kmart is that because it’s so massive with such a huge range of items, you’re almost guaranteed to find a bargain every time you visit.

I absolutely love Kmart for extremely obvious reasons. Not only do they have great bargains here, but they have almost anything you could want(although let’s not get technical) and they are open until midnight– just three reasons there, but isn’t that enough? The Botany Downs Kmart is my favourite. It’s massive and I love exploring this place(although I do come here at least once a fortnight). The staff are great here, I’m always greeted when I arrive and when I leave and they’re always nearby if i need to ask of something. Kmart is great for buying clothes to lounge around the house in at a cheap price and the occasional baking utensil(I just can’t resist sometimes). My last visit had me going home with some new lounge trackies for $ 15 and 6 pairs of socks for $ 6– a really good bargain if you ask me. This Kmart also has the self-checkout service with handy hanger bins, and I definitely prefer to buy my items this way when I’ve only got a couple of items. Working in retail, I’ve seen Kmart sell similar styles they have in malls for a fraction of the cost and usually Kmart has better quality. Just goes to show that it’s not always about brands and quality doesn’t always have to mean a high price.
