Great coffee, fantastic food, awesome service and a great atmosphere. Bungalo is an awesome café spot in Birkenhead with some cabinet food or a solid menu. It’s a known popular spot in the area, but always has seating — except on sunny day when the massive outdoor seating area comes in to its own. Don’t question whether you should head to Bungalo or not, just do it, and make sure you have the eggs bene.

This café’s in a converted house, hence the name. Lots of outdoor seating in the covered deck area. Coffee’s good but I settled on a hot chocolate, thought it was a bit pricey at $ 5 tho. Cabinet food and menu looked okay but didn’t lure me in. I watched everyone else order and still nothing appealed. No surprises here, but a good local meeting place for coffee and catch up.

This is a very cute café with excellent views of the Harbor Bridge. There is a patio seating in the front but the tables on the inside give you a great water view. The food was very good breakfast/brunch fare. What really made my day was their tea selection. I am a big tea fan, and they have Harney and Sons teas which are my current favorite. The sugar factory is just down the hill, so you can go for a nice walk after.

You simply have to try this café. Variety of menu options and café atmosphere will provide even the most selective patron something to enjoy. Fun to find cafes where expectations from Unilocal reviews are exceeded!

Friendly staff and clean restaurant. I tried the Bungalo Breakfast and it was awesome. Oh, and the flat white coffee was superb! Nice and cosy place for lazy weekend brunch!

The soups are great, especially when you sub out the boring white bread with their very yum five grain toast. Also appreciated: that they use a real salmon fillet on Eggs Benedict rather than lazy lox(though their hollandaise sauce could be more homemade tasting). The coffee is consistently good, as long as you get it extra strong: triple shot Americanos, etc.(the non-modified coffees tend to be a bit weaker than coffee freaks like me prefer, but that’s because they’re minding local preferences). Wait staff is always friendly and communal and show extra understanding when you’re in a bind – it’s not just«emotional labour» as usual but a sense of kith that’s at play here. The city views out the window are calming, and the free WiFi and laptop plug in the corner make the place great for prolonged writing. In sum: they really put the«bungalo» into the café of «bungalo café.» Ta. My only regret: that they’re not open later.

Always great food and friendly service at Bungalow. The only problem really is that it is such a popular place it sometimes just gets too busy and service can be slow. Nice outdoor seating area and easy street parking away from the main shopping area. Certainty worth a visit if you are around Birkenhead

I used to live really close to Bungalo and I’m sorry to say I only discovered how awesome it was a couple of weeks before we moved. I used to walk the pram by and think about stopping in for a coffee but it always seemed so busy and prams aren’t the easiest things to manœuvre around packed small spaces so I’d chicken out and go somewhere quieter. When I finally stopped in early on a weekend morning I discovered amazing coffee and really good service. The vibe here is really cool, its the perfect balance between laid-back and modern, nothing too snooty. They have a great covered deck space so you can still sit outside in winter and enjoy it, and there’s a side room with a big table that’s good for coffee groups or larger parties.

I came here once for a work gathering. It was a casual, coffee catch up to bond with new staff members. We were in a private little room all seated around a big table. I have to say from the moment I walked in I felt a great vibe from the place. It was sunny and welcoming and looked clean and crisp. I had a scrumptious hot chocolate that went down ridiculously well. There were some sweet treats floating around our table too, which were all quite impressive. I have to say when driving through Birkenhead this café does stand out as a really striking, styley and clean café. So in this case — do judge a book by it’s cover because it’s just as wonderful inside.

I arrived at around midday for lunch at Bungalo with my partners mum and sister, with us also our wee babies both under six months old. Great parking at the back of the building which is an old bungalow house converted into a café, of the same name! Clean and stylishly decorated inside and out, the outdoor patio/deck is perfect for a sunny warm day eating our meals. I ordered mince on toast off the menu at the counter, and was visually tempted by lovely sweet eats at the counter display– such as chocolate brownies and fruity muffins. I have to say the views out the back are lovely, looking back towards Auckland the City of Sails, and if you love a nice strong cup of smooth coffee you are sitting in the right café. A perfect spot to meet friends for a catch up also and they are child and baby friendly which is a plus. Delightful and Airy and sunny just a great café.
