Great beef stew(birria) tacos, and the broth(consome) with meat just as good. Unilocal Map is wrong they are outside Mercado Hidalgo across the small side street. Chulada de tacos, el consomé con carne ni se diga. EL mapa de Unilocal está mal, se localizan frente al mercado hidalgo al cruzar una de las callecitas del costado.

Best Birria Tacos hands down. My husband and I are always trying new places and this place was Delish. My friend had already recommend me to go and finally decided to try it out and absolutely no regrets. The consome was on point. With the right amount of spicy. One recommendation. Get there early because they run out and shut down.

So… in honor of my first Unilocal Friend from Tijuana, I thought that I would write a review of Tacos Fitos. Possibly the best tacos in TJ. Bold statement, I know… these delicious tacos can back it up though. Tacos Fitos is located on Calle Javier Mina directly across from The Mercado Hidalgo. It’s a little stand that serves just two types of tacos… Beef Birria and Tripas. They keep it simple and keep it delicious. They also have probably the fastest taquero known to man. This dude whips up 3 tacos in about 30 seconds flat. It’s amazing on how quick he is. He grabs the tortilla, places the birria inside, grabs some cilantro and onions, puts some hot sauce and consome on it and then plates it. All of this is done in record setting speed. Time to eat… The only tacos I have tried from here are the Beef Birria tacos. Stick with a winner, right? They have huge pieces of meat simmering in a broth. They take out a piece of the meat, hack it up, place it in the tortilla, and then top it with the onions/cilantro/salsa etc. and hand it over. The beef birria is so succulent and soft. It’s seasoned perfectly and is fall apart tender. The hot sauce/salsa is just spicy enough to tingle your lips but not scorching hot as to where you need a drink immediately. One of my favorite parts of their tacos are their tortillas! They use a double corn tortilla and they kind of griddle them in the juices from the tripas. They get just a little bit crisp and firm as to not fall apart at all while eating. They are delicious and my favorite taco tortilla in all of TJ. Price is very fair. 3 tacos and a Mexican Coke come out to about $ 4.00. This is usually the first stop on my TJ eating adventures so I never totally fill up. If this was my lone stop, I could easily eat 6 to 8 of these bad boys. They are amazing tacos! Friendly service, low prices and delicious tacos make this a must stop every time in TJ! P. S. They are only open until mid afternoon. Last time I was there, they were packing up the inside area where you can sit at tables and chairs at around 1pm. Get there early. It’s a perfect breakfast/lunch. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
