Can’t speak for the stayover experience, but the lobby bar of this Hilton is an oasis of calm in the madness of the airport. If you have a little time to kill and want to wait someplace where you can hear yourself think and have yourself a drink, it’ll do nicely.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and had a really good experience. Considering that it is located within Terminal 1 smack, dab, in the middle of a super busy airport, I have to say I slept like a rock… Scratch that, a BOULDER! My room was extremely quiet and I was not bothered at all by all of the hustle and bustle outside. The front desk team was very professional and checked me in rather quickly. They were more than willing to offer suggestions on how to best get around Mexico City, places that were musts to visit, and where to dine. The bellhop was also a doll. He was nice and also offered me advice about the safest ways to traverse the city. On to the accommodations… I stayed in a junior executive suite, which had more space than I knew what to do with. The bathroom was pretty roomy equipped with a spacious tub and a very ample showerhead that had various settings. The granite vanity had much room for my toiletries to fit comfortably, as well as the Peter Thomas Roth complimentary toiletries provided by the hotel. Kudos to the hotel for providing a tailor kit complete with needles, thread, scissors, and more to help you in case of a snafu. Throughout my whole stay I could not use the electrical outlets located near the vanity. I’m not sure if there was a short circuit or what, but I ended up having to dry my hair and flat iron in the meeting area. The king-sized serenity bed was a little on the firm side, which I actually prefer. The feather pillows were were a tad too soft, but it’s all about preferences, and you have to remember that you’re not at home. All in all, it was a comfy spot to catch up on the latest episodes of Acapulco Shore on MTV :) The breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant hit the spot. Good service and good food — you can’t beat that. If you need to unwind after a long day, they have a spa in the hotel where you can get a reasonably priced full body massage. This is not the Waldorf-Astoria, but it is a safe hotel in an airport that has high traffic. You’re not going to find a 5 star gem in any airport and you have to be aware of that going in. For what it’s worth, I felt really comfortable here and the service was priceless.

Airport hotels seldom enchant: they’re about efficiency not experience. While I cannot fault this hotel on its efficiency, the bottom line is that it feels skeezy. It’s not all bad — the breakfast is very good, the staff are friendly, and it is convenient being inside Terminal 1. The layout of the hotel is fundamentally flawed. All rooms lie on a single floor, with long hallways branching off in different directions. Many rooms look upon an ugly courtyard. Management isn’t to blame for the layout, but the designer should be ashamed. I stayed for 3 nights in room 360, a suite. Don’t ask why I spent 3 nights at an airport hotel! 360 is the farthest room from the front desk so I had long walks through the hallways. As you walk these hallways you’ll walk by rooms — some guest rooms, some rooms for staff or facilities — that are just open. I don’t know why that’s weird, but it is. Hello mop bucket! Hello messy room! Hello creepy dark cavern! I’m pretty sure that I could break into my room with a credit card if it were not bolted shut. It looked like the door had been improperly fitted to the frame and that it had probably been forced open at least once. The suite itself was large, but largely empty. It would be a great room if you were headed backpacking and you wanted to spread all your stuff out on the floor and take inventory. The A/C was easy to operate, quiet, and efficient but in the early morning the unmistakable smell of sewer gas wafted over me. Breakfast, anyone? I’m a Hilton Diamond, which means I stay at several dozen Hiltons per year, and this property does not represent its brand well. Hilton should sell this property to a down market chain, and open a new facility nearby. I completely understand why the Airport Courtyard Marriott advertises on the escalators between the terminal and the elevator up to the Hilton: it’s as if to say«we know this sucks, try us!» Next time I will.

If you happen to be flying into the international terminal(or on a One World partner airline), you cannot simply beat the location and convenience of this property. We stayed here after a flying in from Zanzibar(via Nairobi and London-Heathrow) and were on state of complete exhaustion. The hotel entrance is literally inside Terminal 1, so getting there is a breeze. The staff are super friendly and the hotel moderately priced. The rooms are comfortable. However there was a faint smell of diesel through out the hallways and rooms. I guess this shouldn’t come as any surprise as the runways are literally just outside. If you you’re hungry, I would pass on the onsite restaurant and head for the Mexican restaurant just out the main entry on the upper left. The margaritas are amazing and the food equally as good. And they are open late. But that’s for another time and another review.
