Clubhotel Riu Tequila

I will start with the positive. It’s cheap. Very, very cheap. You also get access to two other properties that are two steps above this hotel.
Now the bad:
The food is disgusting.
The beds are terrible.
The alcohol is watered down and has a very interesting taste.
And last but not least, the customer service is atrocious. The front desk is extremely rude and wouldn’t know good customer service if it slapped them in the face.
All in all, if you mentally prepare yourself for all of the above you will be fine.

Very pleased with the stay, staff was exceptionally great, always so attentive and polite. The food, on the dot, so fresh, flavorful, and just so good and yummy. Rooms were always clean and fresh. Very close to beach. Housekeeping staff was always polite and gave all we ever asked for. All inclusive service, drinks and food always available. Very good for couples and family. Not so much fun for singles. Every night had entertainment, diff nights, diff theme. Would love to go back.

Most of the staff was quite lovely, and they maintained the grounds very well. The resort is probably in need of a remodel, but was clean and well-​kept. The pool area and swim up bar is the best part of the property. The nightclub smelled very bad, the shows weren’t great, food wasn’t the best, limited drink choices, and I am pretty sure they watered down the alcohol… but — - it was at a great price, and you can use a sister resort across the street that was a little nicer (same food and drinks though). It is one of those «you get what you pay for» type of resorts. Not terrible, just not luxury.

Das ist schon unser zweiter Besuch im Riu Tequila an der Reviera Maya. Wenn wir wieder kommen hat das einen Grund. Es hat uns gefallen.
Diesen Hotel wurde uns schon vor 2 Jahren empfohlen von unsrer Booking-​Tante aus dem Tui-​Center.
In den Riu’s in Playacar kann man nur All-​inclusive buchen. Auch wenn wir das sonst nicht unbedingt gerne machen. Hier lohnt es sich wirklich.
Das Essen ist klasse, egal ob morgens, mittags, abends … es ist für jeden was dabei (rund um die Uhr). Auch der Service bei den Getränken ist top! Die Jungs in der Bar sind echt flott und lassen die Finger fliegen! Von Saft und Shakes über Cocktails ist alles zu haben!
Die Minibar im Hotelzimmer macht jeder Disco Konkurrenz ;-)
Die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig und das Bett ist riesig! Da könnten glatt 4 Personen drin schlafen. Abends «unterhalten» ist also nicht mehr, meist winkt man sich noch aus der Ferne zu und wünscht sich per Zeichensprache eine angenehme Nachtruhe!
Free W-​Lan gibt es nur in der Lobby, 90 Minuten am Tag! Sich einen Zugang zu kaufen finde ich mit ca. 60 € die Woche zu teuer. Brauch man auch nicht… Ist ja schließlich Urlaub!!!
Die einzige «negative» Erfahrung, die ich hier gemacht habe und die in bleibender Erinnerung ist:
Ich musste im Zimmer eine halbe Nacht lang mit einer Riesen-​Kakerlake kämpfen, von Angesicht zu Angesicht, mit kreischender Frau im Nacken!!!
Flip oder Flop (ich kann mich nicht mehr genau erinnern :-)) hat sie dann irgendwann erlegt … die Kakerlake!!!
Das kann in so Ländern dann auch einmal in einem 5 Sterne Hotel passieren.
Aber alles in allem ein Hotel zum Feiern, Entspannen oder was auch immer man möchte!
Doch neben den traumhaften Stränden gibt es in diesem Land noch jede Menge mehr zu entdecken!!!
