This Starbucks just opened at Colegio Americano (ASF) today. Honestly, it is a shame that this Starbucks location is even allowed to exist. Its position on campus, inside the school building of the Upper School, 10 yards from a classrooms is a disgrace to Education.
Why does the school need a Starbucks on campus, when there is another Starbucks just half a block away?!? Why would any school need a Starbucks? There is no good answer to these questions.
Perhaps my ethics are getting the best of me, but I don’t believe that any corporation should have such a strong presence on a school campus. There is not a teacher or administrator who I know at ASF who approves of this Starbucks. Yet, the decision makers of this institution have resolved to go ahead and let them open up shop where they will not only take the students money, while serving them generally unhealthy food and drink, but also likely distract them from more important matters of academics. It’s ludicrous.
I don’t blame Starbucks for this atrocity. It is the educational facility of ASF that is failing their students.
Please do not support this location with your business.
