Salón Corona

After walking so many blocks and shopping we were so exhausted and tempted with so many choices around downtown mexico city. My sister who os a local sugested Salon Corona. Initiallly we were going to seat in the terrace spot upstairs but since they ask you for your id since its an smoking area we couldnt seat there because noone im my family but me had an id with them. That is the only frustating part and my only complaint and why i gave 4 stars
Now, i will talk about my culinary experience at Salon Corona. I ordered 5 tacos: 2 al pastor OMGGG they were cooked at the point mmmmmm not to salty not to greasy. 2 mole verde (mexican green creamy sauce that its usually added to meat and chicken) they were not too spicy and 1 romeritos taco oh god romeritos was sooo great. And all of this with a victoria which hitted the spot. Best MEAL ever. Our server was very nice and fast. Guys if you are visiting Mexico City dont forget to stop by salon corona you will love it: D

Man, I think I met my taco match made in heaven. On a weary Wednesday night I stumbled upon this place en routeo to Los Cocuyos street taco because of the energy just emnating from this place. It was packed, so I sat right at the entrace in one of the bar stools in front of a lady server.
They have menu pages in many languages, so I was looking at both espanol y ingles.
They keep it simple — tortas or tacos, w/​cheese or no, and choose your flavor (meats)
Sounds simple, but they offer you many choices! After discussing with the señora, I ordered 3 tacos con quesos: Chicharron (pork crackling), Bistec (steak), and … Pulpo (Octopus).
She brought out bowl of pickled carrots and peppers, red salsa, and limes as soon as I placed the order. So let me rate the 3 tacos first:
1. Chicharron — She recommended this and it was delicious! No idea what pork crackling is (or if that’s even correct word), but I think it’s likely pig skin. Idea might gross you out but many non-​US cuisines eat that. ³⁄₅
2. Bistec — Like philly steak au jus, yummy cheese and some potatoes … ON CRACK! Man this was delicious. With salsa and pickles, my goodness it was heaven. 4.5÷5
3. Pulpo — The most interesting one! You’d think they’d give small portion for seafood right? Wrong! There was so much damn cylinders of octupus meat that I thought the shell would break. (but no — more on that later) It’s black because it’s «un pulpo en su tinta» (octopus cooked in its own ink). Though it was yummy, maybe too much pulpo wasn’t good as it was getting bit too seafoody haha. 3.5÷5
So what I wanted to mention was that these were *hard* flat round shells… with toppings on them. But I did order taco! Not sure because their own website has loads of pictures of taco (soft tortilla wrapped around ingredient) and toastada (hard round shell with toppings on top). Apparently what I had was definitely a tostada according to a Mexican restauranteur friend but even their receipt says «taco.» No complaints, but I want you to be aware that if you do not like pretty hard crunch to chew through, make sure you clarify that bit with the server as I’m sure they do have soft tortilla «taco» (According to my friend, the hard shell variety is a Tex-​Mex made-​up food)
Wash that down with Modelo light — heavens! After 3 I was full. Weird for someone who used to eat 12 tacos at Taco Bell by himself. Wait, that’s college.
Oh and Arroz con leche was the perfect finish to this great meal.
Just go to Salon Corona (multiple locations thorughout DF) for your tacos — won’t regret it!

Most delicious tacos I have ever eaten! I recommend beef, pork skin and octopus tacos. Beside those, they also provide a lot of other choices. Try whatever you want! The prices are reasonable and affordable! Would like to come back and eat more!

First meal in Mexico City and what a strong start! Bacalao (salt cod) torta was delicious, and seemingly unusual. Mole verde torta was smoky and yet tasted like fresh herbs. Decent selection of Mexican beers too. Great spot!

Muy ricos tacos «de guisados» (siendo de Tijuana para mí, esos son tacos varios).
El taco con queso de chorizo fue mi favorito. Muy rico todo, el servicio la verdad es muy descuidado (le repetimos las órdenes como 3 veces) pero fuera de eso todo estaba buenísimo

La comida riquísima!!! digamos que llego con mi esposo a festejar dos años de casados y la verdad no me toco fila me dieron mesa en seguida, y era domingo y sí,… había bastante gente aunque se tardaron en atendernos fueron amables y rápidos, estar en la parte que esta al aire libre es ameno.
No me quejo a pesar de la tardanza me la pase bien y comí muy rico…

We stopped by for a mid-​afternoon round of micheladas after walking around in El Centro. There are several Salon Coronas, but we chose this one on a pedestrian street. Usually I’m leery of places that don’t have many customers, but after we sat down outside, the surrounding tables filled up immediately. I didn’t realize quite how large the place was until I went upstairs to visit the baños. I wish I could comment on the food, but as I said, just a round of drinks for us. All in all, a decent place to kick back for a drink and the al pastor spit was hopping!

The hubs and I ate here a few times over the course of a recent visit. (It was also our Valentines Day dinner. Sorry, not sorry.) :) It’s the opposite of fancy and that’s what’s great about it.
Good beer (nice selection, though we stuck mostly with Negro Modelo) and awesome no-​fuss tacos. Particular favorites were the mole verde, bisteck, and pastor. Queso fundido was also a winner.
Fast and efficient service. Excellent prices — you can find cheaper, sure, but we still thought it was good value. (Basically about a dollar per taco for most types, with the 15 peso to $ 1usd rate.) Great spot to have a late night drink and snack, watch a soccer game on the TV, and when there’s not a game on, they play sweet 80s music videos.
There is occasionally a line but they get people sat and served quickly. We loved it. We’ll be back next time we come through the city.

I came here over the weekend after a day of shopping in Centro. There is always a line, and I think it’s more because of the authentic Mexican feel and the atmosphere, though the food is nice. We waited about 10 minutes so it was a quick. When we were seated, we got a shrimp cocktail to start, which was very nice. I tried 5 different tacos. My most favorite to least favorite goes: pastor, pierna, picadillo, asado and chorizo. For dessert, we got the ate con queso which was a nice light end to the email. The beer selection is good as well. They have soccer playing and the atmosphere is loud. It would be a good place for any big sports game.

El lugar perfecto para disfrutar de unas deliciosas chelas, un lugar sencillo para ir con los amigos pasar un buen rato y acompañar tus chelas con unos taquitos al pastor, una torta o unos camarones. SALUD

No frills, no BS… just a great bar in a great location… perfect for eating tacos and watching a soccer match. Chairs are a bit uncomfortable.

Torta de pastor!!! La definición de lo chilango, que delicia! Hay que bajársela con un tarro de oscura de barril. Las gringas también son increibles.
Y no podría no decir nada de las zanahorias en escabeche que te ponen en un platito, que cosa tan mas rica! No pican pero están aciditas y con ese saborcito que te clavas.

I loved this place! It’s super cute and has great service! The day I visited, it was a holiday on which they don’t serve alcohol until after a certain time. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive — went out of his way to help us while it was finally time to be able to serve alcohol. The food was excellent! I’ll definitely visit Salon Corona again next time I’m in town!

Los tacos al pastor son mi debilidad y el mejor lugar para consumirlos es el tradicional Salón Corona en el centro histórico.
Un salón para comer y beber en familia, su especialidad los tacos al pastor, las quesadillas y un variado menú para todos los gustos, además de la deliciosa cerveza de barril clara u oscura.
De las cuatro sucursales del Salón Corona, al que asisto con mayor frecuencia es el de Filomeno Mata porque tiene varias opciones para nuestra comodidad, mesas sobre la calle, un primer piso con un gran domo y balcones. Un lugar ideal para ver el futbol por sus grandes pantallas, excelente idea para este mundial Brasil 2014.
El lugar es cómodo, los alimentos buenísimos y los precios accesibles, la única recomendación es que cuando visites este lugar tengas mucha paciencia porque hay días con tanta gente que tienes que esperar para tener una mesa, la atención es lenta y en ocasiones se olvidan de las órdenes, pero si te aseguro que la espera siempre valdrá la pena.

Aunque es una de las sucursales que surgieron a partir del Salón Corona original que está en Bolivar, el de Filomeno Mata es uno de los lugares más famosos de todo el Centro Histórico y me atrevería a decir que de todo el Distrito Federal.
Quizá tenga que ver que está en uno de los corredores gastronómicos más importantes o que el lugar es acogedor. Además de ser muy amplio, está dividido en tres partes: el primer nivel, la planta baja y la terraza.
El servicio es bueno, el precio más o menos razonable, pero lo que si me ha impactado son varios platillos y por supuesto las cervezas. Las tortas de pulpo que preparan en este lugar son uno de los mejores platillos que he probado en mi existencia y no exagero. También los tacos de mole verde son exquisitos.

A veces no sé porque ciertos lugares adquieren tanta fama, éste es uno de ellos. Sí, la cerveza está bien, las tortas y tacos de pastor también son buenos, pero desconozco porque siempre hay filas infinitas para entrar.
Esta sucursal es menos concurrida que la de Bolívar, así que tendrás que esperar un poco menos. Si logras entrar, te darás cuenta que el servicio es rápido.
A mí sólo me gusta para estar un rato, creo que hay mejores lugares en el Centro y donde, ¡sí! también venden cerveza y no tienes que esperar tanto tiempo. Es mejor ir cuando no hay mucha gente, en la madrugada o entre semana, para sentarte un rato y platicar con tus amigos.

Cualquier experiencia dentro este salón está destinado a volverse memorable, y no hablo por los tragos extras, el ambiente, la armonía, los balcones, las mesas, incluso en la acera de la entrada, los dos pisos, la hospitalidad, el servicio. Es perfecto, sin importar el estado de ánimo en el que te encuentres, en el Salón Corona encontrarás lo que necesitas, bebidas en su formato coqueto de tarro tipo homero simpson. Puedes ir solo, acompañado, en grupo, o llevar a un salón de clases entero. Siempre habrá lugar, nada de reservaciones, todo se atiende y trata en caliente.
En el mini corredor gastronómico de Filomeno Mata, el Salón Corona engalana la calle, pues desde los balcones puedes apreciar un gran espectáculo de los transeúntes, ver chicas guapas pasar por la calle mientras te tomas un trago, o bien, mirar la televisión en esas enormes pantallas planas. Es un excelente sitio de congregación para mirar el mundial, la champion league o las olimpiadas. La especialidad del lugar son los tacos, de preferencia al pastor, son excelentes, o las gringas que no se quedan atrás. El salón es un excelente paréntesis en medio de una jornada laboral o para cerrar como se merece una semana pesada. Totalmente recomendable.

Una de los lugares más populares de la Ciudad de México es el Salón Corona, ahí puedes festejar tu cumpleaños con toda la bola de cuates, ir con la familia, en petit comité, o con tu pareja pues aquí todo el mundo entra. En lo personal siempre que caigo en este sitio me gusta disfrutar de una cerveza bien helada junto con una enorme tostada de camarón, no sólo eso hay, en la carta puedes escoger entre su gama de exquisita comida y acompañarla con tu bebida favorita. El servicio es bueno y sin duda alguna regresarás y te quedarás para regocijarte un muy buen rato.

El Centro Histórico, ¡ah, qué grande es! Sin lugar a dudas es difícil seleccionar un lugar en el cual puedas comer y beber, que te ofrezca buen servicio y también comodidad. Esto lo encuentras, todo ello, en el Salón Corona. Ubicado en la esquina de Filomeno Mata y el corredor Madero, es sin lugar a dudas una de las sucursales preferidas de todos los chilangos.
Hay una infinidad de platillos a elegir en su menú. Desde las tortas de pastor o las quesadillas de queso –que parecen más una tostada con una raja encima-​, hasta todo tipo de mariscos o adobo, y todos ellos haciéndote más difícil la elección. Lo recomendable es elegir algún marisco acompañado de una tarro de cerveza bien fría.
Sus instalaciones lo hacen un lugar acogedor y si no te gusta sentirte encerrado, cuentan con un área afuera del establecimiento, sobre la misma calle, en la cual sin problemas puedes degustar tus alimentos y, por qué no, hasta echarte un cigarrito luego de.
