I believe that we walked by Beto Condesa on ten different occasions before we noticed it was even there. With the entrance squeezed between two other more modern looking storefronts, drowned out by the surrounding neon lights and loudly bumping speakers, one might not notice the menu next to a set of mysterious looking stairs that lead down in a spiraling fashion away from the street and towards the beach. However, if you can find your way into the cozy setting of Beto Condesa, you’re in for a nice meal. The whole place screams of tradition, and even the menu doesn’t look like it has changed in at least twenty years. Seafood and steaks are the general offerings on the menu. Personally, I ordered the filete adobado(spicy red pepper sauce), which turned out to be quite good. It even came with a baked potato. Bonus! Additionally of note, was this random bowl next to the salsa options. At first I was hesitant as it didn’t look like anything that I was familiar with, but once I’d tasted it… wow! It was simply a bunch of crunchy fried chopped garlic drowning in olive oil. Perfect for drizzling on basically anything. At some point, my wife was just eating it out of the serving bowl. ;D My only real complaint would be about the mosquito that wreaked havok on out sandaled feet. Anyway, I’m not sure that Beto Condesa offered much that was particularly unique(except for that amazing fried garlic), but it was a solid meal. If you’re looking for a sure option in the are check out Beto Condesa. And bring your bug spray.
