Eating here is a social challenge. Yup, you read that right. It is a lesson in diplomacy and patience. Yet, night after night this place is flocked with customers. Very mysterious, no? Well for one thing the food is ok and I personally ate here(still eat here occasionally) because it was a convenient stop before night time classes at nearby FGA. There is a wan tan mee stall whose char siu is too dry for my taste. A Yong tau fu /chee cheong fun stall that is delicious but charges you too much. The satay stall is worth a try, and so is the prawn noodles but the other stalls down the lane are pretty ‘meh’. Why do I say eating here is a lesson in diplomacy? Apparently the Wan tan mee stall has a quarrel with some other stall in the area(drama drama yada yada) and you really have to watch where you sit, as in whose territory because some stalls won’t serve you if you’re not in their ‘zone’. Always ask before you order ‘Hello, i’m seating there*point*point*. Can you serve there?” and so on and so forth.

Restoran Chubby! I’m always amazed by restaurants aren’t afraid to be out of the norm like giving themselves unique names that sticks in your head for a lifetime. How can you forget a restaurant called chubby? Right? Located right beside Wisma Full Gospel of Assembly(FGA), is Chubby Restaurant. It’s basically a lane of hawker food that operates in the late evening up till midnight. Serving from basic hawker food like Prawn Noodles, Chee Cheong Fan, Wanton Noodles, Fried Rice, and the famous lamb chops. Getting a seat can be quite difficult as they do not have a designated seating area but merely the usage of car parks and bus stops as their seating area. Tables and chairs are spread across the walkway by the road so just randomly order from the stall and wait for your dish to arrive. Parking is not an issue but be careful of a drunken old man by the car service Centre, he claims to own the parking spots and will damage your car if you do not pay him RM5 for the parking fee which is supposed to be free. I’ve tried the Chee Cheong Fan which is quite expensive but compensates in taste and portion size. Sadly most of the stalls here are overpriced for a roadside hawker stall. For example a piece of very small lamb chop would cost you RM11, barely enough to feed yourself. The Prawn Noodle is good and is probably the only normal priced food here among the others or maybe I get a discount as the owner’s son is a classmate of mine. Business has been bad since a new food court opened across the road which has a better environment and much affordable meals.
