The longest pasar malam — beating the old record of Taman Connaught Pasar Malam in Klang Valley. This place is fantastic for a first timer like me! Night market is my favourite hang out place simply because I can find so many different«new» or «creative» things that I can buy here at a relatively reasonable price. Food is another main motive of me coming to the night markets. It is just delicious having to walk around and buy different snacks and trying out different cuisines. I never wanted to judge the cleanliness of it while walking and shopping at the night markets :) Similar with the longest night market, you will find repetition of food or goods sold from end to the other end. I will think that this is from the same owner, just different people operating the stall. Well, why not? The red ocean concept of fighting among the bloody competition is another conventional way of these hawker stalls. So don’t worry if you’d missed one stall, you can always go to a different one ahead of you maybe after 15 minutes of walking :)

Muahahaha! Finally something to proud of. Pasar Malam Setia Alam was named as the longest Pasar Malam in Malaysia Book of Record. It’s 2.4km long on the road filled with stalls variety range of goods and foods. You can see the light of Pasar Malam stalls at the roadside from the bottom of Jalan Meru heading to Setia Alam. This Pasar Malam sell all kind of things, I called it international night market because whatever new exotic foods or things that newly invented in the market, you can find it here from kitchen tools to car accessories and fashions. Sometimes I even feel myself a bit outdated as too many things or foods that I don’t know and never seen before. Something that probably you need to keep in mind when you are here. First, come early because is very hard to get parking after 8p.m. Although a lots of car park can be find there but mostly are full during that time period. Second, bring more cash with small changes. Is Pasar Malam, we don’t use card in Pasar Malam. Small changes will be more flexible for you to buy things there. At last but not least, come with empty stomach! Too many good foods here!

If you’re a true local Malaysian, visiting pasar malam is definitely a preferred activity among local Malaysians. That is why I would like to promote this Pasar Malam that is held at Setia Alam every saturday evening. If my information is correct, this is considered the longest Pasar Malam(Night Market) in Selangor. Here you can practically satisfy all your street food/snack cravings, they have all types of cuisine consist of all the races in Malaysia. Other than that, you can even do grocery shopping here as well because there’s even vegetable, fish and meat seller/vendors. Other than that, there’s a lot of stuff that you can find in this night market. However, I notice that nowadays it’s no longer economical to shop at night markets as the vendors has been increasing their prices unethically. To those that are visiting this night market, please be alert as there is a lot of pick pocket incidents and also snatch thieves. Other than that, try to avoid leaving this night market too late, the best is to leave by 10pm.

Cheras have a pasar malam(night market) that are famous because they are one of the longest pasar malam. We have one in Klang/Shah Alam too which is the Setia Alam pasar malam! Although Setia Alam is categorized as Shah Alam, I always treated it as part of Klang. So I’m gonna say, we have one super long pasar malam here too! Like Cheras pasar malam, Setia Alam pasar malam have practically anything and everything. Those u need and don’t need. If you’re there for foods, the have uncountable food stalls selling streets food like sweet corns, tofufa, Taiwan sausages, breads(freshly baked!) pizza, yuyu ice, rojak, cakes, kuih, fruit tarts, ice cream, fried chickens, bubble tea, fruit juice, coconut juice, roti canai, appam balik, shaved ice and many many more! They even have food trucks serving curry noodles, fried kuey teow, asam laksa, Japanese food, pizza, crepes and so on. If your stomach can’t store them all in a day they even have snacks stalls selling various types of cookies and sweets that can be consume later. The amount of foods they have there is just TOOMANY! Of course, they have vegetables, meat, fish and fruits stalls too! Other than food, this pasar malam have lots of other stalls selling hair accessories, earrings, necklaces, hand phone accessories, clothes from pajamas to fashionable clothes, bags, shoes, plants(small potted plants that can be placed on office desk), kitchen and appliance such as mops, brooms, plate, cups, cooking wok, pans and etc. This pasar malam is so comprehensive and long, you need at least half an hour to walk from one end to another(without stopping at any stall). So, be prepared to spend more than an hour there. Like any other pasar malam, you must always be aware of your belongings and girls, try to bring smaller bag or don’t bring any at all. Beware of pick pockets!
