Been coming here on and off for the last several years, mostly for the comedy shows… Tickets are available online at their website and there’s no online transaction fee, just ticket price + GST. Depending on the show, ticket prices are also not terribly expensive. The lobby outside the theatre is a bit small and can be crowded especially if it’s a sold out performance, but that’s a good problem to have. Also the bathrooms upstairs doesn’t have toilet paper in every stall. Seats are not cushy, but not that uncomfortable to sit on. If you’re a short person who doesn’t want to sit behind a tall person, get seats located on the split level if you’re downstairs. Also, if you’re on the nosebleed, side balcony seats, you can’t see the side of the stage you’re closest to, which is a bummer. If you’re looking for family friendly entertainment, Gardner and Wife(currently running the place) are known for bringing in kid-friendly productions.

Pretty decent spot for a comedy night show. Almost every one who is into the comedy entertainment will know about this place. Pricing for the tickets here are pretty reasonable and the design of this place is pretty unique :) The hall is able to fit about 200 pax and it has really good lightings and audio systems. However the seats are not much of a comfortable seats as it’s just those usual plastic chairs we see in public. I was also pretty intrigued with the fact that they are situated at jaya one, like in the middle of a lot of eateries and bars. So when a show is over or before the show starts, you will never need to worry about food and drinks after. Will definitely come back for more comedy shows :)

PJLA is the Petaling Jaya performing arts centre, usually comedy shows are hosted here as well as some plays. i’ve been here a dozen times to watch the MACC shows that are so funny. I like PJLA simply because of the ease with parking and how the place is accessible to people coming from many different areas. The seats in the theatre are not very comfortable because they are those regular lecture hall plastic seats. The sound however is very good and so is the lighting. The seats however are set on different platforms and at a good height too so its unlikely that the person in front of you would be blocking you so you can watch your show with no disturbances.

I’ve been here once to watch local stand-up comedy before and it is a good place to do so. The hall is not particularly big but it seats comfortably and you don’t feel suffocated in any way. There are many restaurants outside the hall so you could get your dinner with ease before you attend your show. They usually sell some drinks outside the hall which you can bring inside. There was ample parking and they even have valet.

As a guy who loves performing arts, I’ve been to most performing arts center. This place is setup not too long ago after Jaya One was built and I was lucky enough to have the privilege to attend a performance of a friend. The stage is good for 250 pax for that particular set up that night. The stage is big and the equipment is very well invested. The audio and lighting system seems flawless and there’s even space for translated languages to be displayed on either side of the stage. I’ve been to their stand up comedian nights too and it’s great to see that Malaysians have started to appreciate performing arts to keep these places alive.

Every now and then, I would go for a stand-up comedy show at PJ Live Arts on a Tuesday night. It is a weekly event, called One Mic Stand. It is where budding stand-up comedians start up their experiences. The many times that I have been, it has always been a great show. There is a growth for stand-up comedies in Malaysia. And I would advice to give go for a show, at least once. On other occasions, PJ Live Arts holds a few theater performances every now and then. I wouldn’t say the performances are massive but the quality is there. For a limited stage space given, I have seen a lot of good work produced there. I will always be on a look out at their website for the latest shows that would be on. If you’re inclined into the performing arts, this is one of the few places that I would recommend giving a shot.

I frequent PJ Live Arts to catch their every Tuesday One Mic Stand. It basically rides on the concept of a weekly open mic for stand-up comedy and sets a casual and great platform for up-and-coming comedians as well as the veteran ones. The show is hosted by non other than Kavin Jay and Rizal van Geyzel who are incredible passionate comedian duo. I really like this place for its vibrant neighbourhood performing arts centre and thus far it has hosted a number of local and international shows ranging from comedy, theater and dance performances. I also like the fact that some of their shows/programme are designed with kids in mind. Go for Garner & Wife shows if you would like to take your family for a friendly production. I absolutely love this place and will frequent it more when I finally move into SS2. Tee Hee!

Interest in broadway show, comedy talk show and other performing arts? At PJ Jaya One there is one live performing art center that has many shows been performed before, it is quite well known with some artists came here for some talk shows before, a comedian I assume, You should look at their website and check what is their next showing or showing recently, I am sure you can find something there :) Personally interest in arts so I would recommend you to drop by and have a look :) their performing stage is at upstair from the box office right beside IACT College, the nearby are The Bee restaurant :)

PJLA’s convenient location is a major plus point for me especially when I’ve bought tickets to see a show during weekday nights and have to rush from work. The hall hosts theatre and comedy plays and tickets are available for purchase online. Ticket collection is available an hour before the show begins so make sure to be there early as it can get quite chaotic. Drinks including alcohol are sold outside the hall before the show begins and you are allowed to bring it in. The hall isn’t huge but comfortably accommodates a smaller crowd without being too cramped. Plastic chairs are provided so don’t expect anything too posh.

PJ Live Arts is a popular family theater locate at Jaya One. Many comedians love choosing this place for their performance and shows. Not only that, some media launching events will also choose PJ Live Arts as their event venue. Since it is a family theater, the space is intermediate. It wasn’t too big, yet not too small. An event or talk show is just suitable. If you need like a very grand and classy event, sorry to say that, PJ Live Arts isn’t the place you are looking for. I went there for an competition award ceremony of a local telecommunication company last year. And that was the chance I went to PJ Live Arts theater. It has a stage in front, which every audience can clearly see what is going on on the stage. You don’t need to worry whether anyone in front will block you. The audio system is good, music playing is clean and clear. So, you don’t need to worry any noise. PJ Live Arts is using LED lights system, I am not sure whether they have crew to help or you need to find other person to control. Maybe you can check it out when you make reservation. All in all, PJ Live Arts perhaps isn’t too big; however, it is just nice for private event launch. It helps saving one’s budget if they would like to have intermediate-sized event. Do check out their website for more information.

Since 2009, PJ Live Arts has become a popular neighbourhood performing art centre. Over the years, it has provided a platform for many local acts such as stand-up comedy, musical and many more. One of their most well-received show would have to be the annual Laugh fest, where you’ll get to enjoy the show from Malaysia and International comedians. On top of the stand-up comedies, they held a lot of musical which are kid-friendly too. Personally, I think this is a good idea — to introduce performing arts and music to the young generations, instead of letting them glued themselves to TV shows or YouTubes. They might not have a huge theatre but I felt it’s just nice that the audience would still have clear view of the stage even if they are sitting behind. The staffs/ushers are very friendly and they are always ready to assist you or answer your questions. Apart from theatre, they have cabaret shows too. Instead of the main theatre, the shows will be held on a smaller stage. You can also grab a drink or two and some food at the eateries around there, while waiting for the door to open. It’s very convenient, and good ways to spend a night or weekends with your loved ones. You can check out the shows at their booth in Jaya One, just opposite The Bee. Alternatively, you can go to their website and check their schedule.

PJ Live Arts since established back in August 2009 has developed itself into an admittedly vibrant venue for theatre lovers. This delightful little theatre caters some of our nation’s best stand-up comedians and comedy festivals. It has become the prime location for the renowned Laugh Fest and plenty other acts that will surely get you laughing uncontrollably. I’ve gone to a couple of shows here– Super Kam 2: The 2nd Kam-ming, Actorlympics. The theatre is relatively small but adequate for the shows that are programmed here. It allows the performers on stage to interact with crowd easily. I’m not particularly a fan of crowd participation, but the crowds seem to love it here. The proscenium arch of the stage provides perfect acoustic, no matter where you sit in the crowd. It’s an all rounded, intimate and refreshing setting. The ushers here are proficient, they’re up to speed and respectful. Have you any qualms during the show, you can make eye contact with any of the ushers and they will come to your seat, ready to assist you. I find that incredibly appeasing. Whilst waiting of the door to open, you can even enjoy a beer or two. Overall, the size of the theatre is ideal in my opinion for you to lose yourself silly without feeling insecure. The venue can even be booked online for events and shows or even classes. This tasteful venue caters to family style theatre programs and is perfect for those who wish to just have a relaxing night out. Tickets can be found in the box office if you’re in the neighbourhood and wish to catch a show.
