Explosion of flavours for your taste palette. Not your average or norm Thai Fusion. Non-halal. As experimental as Thai Fusion can get, you will find many surprises in Kompassion. Their menu is hardly run of the mill but instead is intriguing and specialized. I been here at least 4 x and i’m dying to try everything. Its truly authentic Thai as it serves pork. I would hv to say if their portion was a bit more generous — i would be their number 1 fan. We tried Pucuk Paku Veggie with Prawn, Minced Pork & Young Coconut Salad, Otak otak and Paneang Curry Pork Loin. All 3 dishes including the Ice Cream with Jackfruit & Red Rubies dessert were on point. We will back to try out their single dishes like Pork Leg Rice, Tom Yum Fried Rice with Grilled Seafood and etc. Pricing wise — I’m not one who likes to splurge on food but Kompassion would be one of the few places that would come to mind — if i feel like treating myself or there’s an occasion to celebrate. Do note that, they have value for money set lunches as well and also have another private floor that you can book out for occasions or parties. Wish they were a bit more diligent in their social media updates and have prettier food pic and menu updates.

Friends who know me will say that I am a sucker for spicy cuisines and Thai food always has a sweet spot in my tummy. Kompassion is the sister of My Elephant — one of the best Thai restaurants in the Klang Valley in my opinion! This joint has a slightly fusion twist to the menu so expect to be surprised! If you prefer ol’ skool Thai, you are in for a disappointment but it’s truly a refreshing experience! Our second trip there warranted a taste for their desserts. We had the traditional red ruby and jackfruit concoction that was a little too sweet for me. Kompassion also serves up unique dessert offerings like coconut cheesecake and also a coconut pandan gelato with cendol corn. Not too sweet and the perfect light ending to a wonderful meal!

Despite the name, Kompassion is one of those post-modernistic restaurants in Malaysia that really boasts a new revolution that could change the face of Malaysian cuisine. They have everything that you will want from a restaurants, from your typical Malaysian food to the oriental cuisines that spread all across Asia. If anything, Kompassion is your neighborhood coffee shop that sells the same food, just at three times the price. Their Nasi Campur, which is a mix of all the goodies from most of the Asian cuisines, is pretty much the only thing you should go there for with the dish defining the term ‘money-for-value’. Besides that, there are other dishes in this restaurant that are without any doubt appetizing, but it is the Nasi Campur you should go for. There isn’t nothing much to say apart from the said slightly hefty price. The service is pretty good, and should surprise many people for its dish’s flavor profile.

It’s a close 3 – 4 stars rating here and I gave it 1 extra star because they serve pork! Yes call me bias but it does deserve that extra star. Kompassion is by My Elephant by the way. You might think that they would serve the same food choices with pork as an extra, you’re wrong. They have this super yummy Vietnamese spring roll with smoked duck that is just amazing with all the fillings and topping, every bite is just heavenly. We got the staff to recommend us their most famous set lunches and they didn’t disappoint but we felt like their Tom yam could be better cause we have tasted better ones. I ordered their stew pork rice and it is tasty but it didn’t really give me that Thai flavor I was looking for. Price here isn’t cheap but their set lunch is worth it. Ranges from RM15−19 with drinks included. The peak hours are 12−2pm so do avoid those timing if you want to have a quiet time enjoying your lunch.

From the creators of myElephant comes this other delicious Thai restaurant tucked neatly away at Damansara Kim. For first timers here, you do need a navigation system to get to around. It’s hidden amidst rows of random shop lots. Parking here could be a hassle so do prepare to park somewhere at the housing area and take a bit of a walk. It’s next to a local run grocery store so aesthetically, it’s quite easy to spot this place. The food here caught me off-guard. If you’re like me and love to try EVERY popular dish in its menu, they manage to whip this lovely platter called Nasi Campur(so Malaysian!). So it’s not a wonder I opted for it. It consists of tomyam soup, red curry roasted pork belly, green chicken curry, mango salad, and a vegetable side I am not familiar with. It comes with two types of rice: red and white. Overall it costs RM18.90 — talk about value for money! Mind you this is the set lunch meal. Usually their dishes are worth more than that. The starters(Vietnamese skin roll with smoked duck) costs RM17, which is almost as expensive as my lunch meal. It tasted amazing though! I loved the mixed almond, sunflower seed, ebiko and tomatoes sauce they sprinkled on top of 6 delicious tiny rolls. In particular, the mint with the smoked duck balanced out that flavour. I loved the dessert though — got the coconut gelato with Ruby and jackfruit topping. Let’s just say that’s the ultimate palette cleanser. It isn’t too sweet and the jackfruit really brought out the coconut-y flavor. Staff was friendly and helpful. I kinda stayed after its closing hours(as I was trying to get this review up) and they’re nice enough to not kick me out. Heh. The ambience is lovely with its interesting modern industrial look. I would definitely recommend friends and family to try this place out!
