We were all hankering for a warm meal by the pot one rainy night after a movie at eCurve and steamboat seemed like the perfect choice for a warm filling meal and soup to slurp on. I have heard about Ketam for a while now and always see a lot of people freuquenting the joint at the lower level floor of Ikano so we headed there to try it out for ourselves. The menu is varied with pictures that makes it easy to select what we want for our meal. One thing I like about Ketam is that they provide individual pots for you to dip your food in, something like Shabu Shabu but makes eating a meal together much more enjoyable as then you can pick and choose by your own preference or allergies. We tried a few sets so we can taste each other’s choices. There was the sliced lamb noodle set wih the said meat, noodles and vegetables for RM10, you just put everything in the soup and there you go! Noodle bowl! The combo value set comes with a mix of seafood, noodles and vegetables but I ordered the golden mushroom set which I shared with a friend. For RM20, it is pretty value for money as the portion was generous and the soup was tasty. The most important condiment is in fact the chili paste that was really spicy but good with the food. If you like your spicy food, go with the curry set that comes with curry broth. I have yet to try it but I bet it would be a mouth tingling experience. The price is certainly affordable but I would say I had better and fresher fish balls than the ones here. Kampar fish ball noodles are widely available in PJ so I might just go for that next time a craving hits.

Steamboat is one of my favourite ways to stuff my belly up. When i crave for seafood and hot soup i head to Ketam Village. I often head to the one in Desa ParkCity, i never knew they had one underneath Ikano. So i decided to give it a shot. I wasn’t at all thrilled with the setting of the place. I’d prefer to have something hot and soupy somewhere cooling outside. Should you wish to do that here, you’d be outside yes, but in the parking lot. You can imagine the heat… See i told you i was particular. So put aside the fact that i didn’t get my outdoor fix. The menu itself was the same as any other Ketam Village. The seafood, vegetables, meat are all fresh and served promptly. I often order the Beef set and the Squid Set. That way i get a good amount of broth. I’m a huge fan of their dumplings as well. Dip those in the broth, and i’m telling you, you won’t get enough of it. Not to mention the sliced beef. I only like it with the Tom Yum Soup tho, it really didn’t go well with the Chicken Soup. The service i got here was really disappointing i must say. Although our food arrived promptly, they forgot our drinks and they weren’t attentive at all. I saw most of them on their phones whilst standing around not attending to the customers. It was hard to even flag them down when you want to order or pay the bill. All in all, Ketam Village is my favourite place to have Steamboat. Just not the one in Ikano. I really prefer the one in Desa ParkCity. They’ve got a proper outdoor area and even the ventilation inside is better than Ikano’s. Not to mention the service, it’s ten times better.

At times, I would like to have steamboat and Ketam Village would be one of the places I go to if I want a simple steamboat lunch. They have a variety of lunch sets which is pretty decent and nice. Their seafood is fresh and never had a time where the seafood was bad. I like the tomyam soup that they serve too. It sure does has a kick to it. Additionally, I like their fried dumplings too. However, over the years, this place has gotten a little bit pricey but the quality is still as good, if not better.

Steambot is a good food for those on diet. No oil because everything is boiled. As for me this my way to spend time with my husband having a steambot dinner while chit chatting. We have tried a lot of steamboat restaurant and i could say this is the best we have ever tried. The seafood is fresh and have a lot of varieties. The vegetable is also so freshly pluck and there are also meat slices being serve. I love the chili dip and the cili padi with ketchup dip. Eventhough the price is a bit pricey but for the quality it is really worth it.

I always come here when I want to get my fix for something hot and soupy, sour and spicy, but not forgeoing my need for greens. Different from most steamboats, this place is Halal too hence it is often crowded with many of our fellow locals. I normally go for the the Vegetarian set with Tom Yum soup, you can choose Chicken Soup if you prefer. At RM15.90, i get a plate filled with various types of mushrooms, some tofu, fuchuk, lettuce, corn, beansprouts and meehoon(you can choose to get two types of noodles). My soup is moderately spicy, sour enough and it being boiling hot, makes it exciting to eat so expect drops of sweat or two! They also have their own types of sambal or belacan, the green one is a little sweet but both are quite nice. What I really like though, is their fried onion that is limitless. Add some into your soup and immediately taste the difference in fragrance and flavor! They have a huge selection of sides, varying from different types of fish balls to meat balls, beef to lamb slices, seafood, vegetables, cheese tofus and so much more! They are quite reasonably priced I think, but normally my set alone is more than enough for me! Soup is refillable but not allowed for«sharing», should you wish to switch flavors, it is an additional RM3. Service is good, no complains. It is a nice place for you and friends to chit chat and enjoy the process of eating together!
