My friends were the one who introduced me this place. I’ve never heard of this café before and was surprised that it’s located is Pj Palms Sports Centre. If you try to waze your way here, you might end up going round and round just to find the place because the address doesn’t really specifically tell you where it is. So when we found this place, we were so relieved. It’s a tiny little hut looking house and it’s so cute. It’s located in front of the kiddies pool in the sports centre. This little café is so cozy that it feels that you’re dining at home. I ordered a pesto pasta which was just alright. My friends had their pancakes and they were so fluffy and tasted amazing. I really recommend it if you’re planning to go there. Their big breakfast was also alright, it’s just a normal regular big breakfast that you’d get anywhere else but there’s no harm in trying it out! They also have really nice coffees and cakes for sale!

Last Sunday, despite of the tiring days of interning, I was dragged out of the bed by my other half for breakfast. Instead of heading for the usual kopitiam breakfast, he decided to tend to my ang-mo style breakfast. Hence, we ended up at Jam & Kaya Café for breakkie. Parking was a little bit inconvenient as the café is in the PJ Palms Sport Centre. So, we parked at A&W and walked over to the café. The place was bustling with noises and screams. PJ Palms Sport Centre is also a house for swimming academy and seamonkey scuba diver center. Oh, there’s also a public kiddies pool for children. While we were looking for the café, we walked around the swimming pool. The guard stopped us and made us take off our shoes/slippers. Oh well, managed to find it. It’s right next to Out of Africa Restaurant. =S The café was not so busy when we arrived. The café’s policy is order and then pay at the register straight. So we took our seat in a quiet corner and slowly go through the menu.
We only ordered a drink since my other half, Meow doesn’t drink coffee or tea much. =S So, my choice was signature hot chocolate + choco balls(RM11.90). It was milky and chocolate-y, just the way I like it. There were a lot of choco balls in the drink. Meow ordered the Australian Big Breakfast(RM22.90). From the pictures, you can see that it’s quite a big portion. Was quite happy when I saw the amount of mushrooms on the plate. =D It was quite a lot compared to other cafes. The scrambled eggs was good and flavourful. Instead of the usual plain(Salt and pepper) style, they added their own twist into it, which is chives. They swapped garlic bread strips for the usual plain toast or wholemeal toast. Meow had no complaints. For myself, I decided to try something different on Sunday dreadful morning. So, I had the Shashuka Feta(RM18.90). It is a Midde East style eggs. They didn’t put in any meat or sausages in. So this is a vegetarian dish. There were eggs, cheese and capsicums in it(All three different colours of it!). The egg was baked till it’s half baked and the capsicums were soft and tender. Good for those who are lazy to chew =P On the sides, a few baguette slices and a simple salad tossed with balsamic vinegar. We didn’t order any desserts cause we were saving the space for a Root Beer float! Hence, the morning breakfast. It was a good one. Will drop by again for a good breakfast. Opens from Tuesday to Fri(10am to 7pm), Sat & Sun(9am to 6pm)

Finding this little gem of a café was pretty difficult. Not knowing that this café was in Pj palms centre, we used waze and ended up going in rounds around the area. Parking here is expensive as well. I really liked the place though. And also the fact that there was sunlight peeking through the windows which made the food photos extremely photogenic. My favorite thing on the menu has to be the farmers breakfast pancakes which is a combination of sweet and savory! It’s actually a pancake stack with a sunny side up egg, hash brown, ham, mushroom and lettuce topped with maple syrup. I know the combo sounds really odd but the very first bite I had, really was a party in my mouth! If you wanna opt for something healthier, you can give the pesto pasta a shot. I remember the pesto being very fragrant. The prices here are pretty affordable as well.

A group of friends and I went here spontaneously when we had a long lunch break and I swear, we spent half our time trying to actually FIND the place. The address that was given on Foursquare didn’t list that it was actually INSIDE the PJ Palms Sports Centre so we spent almost an hour circling the area looking for the place. When we eventually figured out that we had to go inside the sports centre we parked at the hotel next door. parking was pretty steep at RM5 an hour. Seating is pretty limited as the space is small. Theres outdoor seating as well but I doubt anyone wants to sit outside in Malaysian heat. Two things on the menu here are the Shakshuka and the Farmers Breakfast Pancake. Shakshuka is basically baked eggs but middle eastern style, a pretty good twist on regular baked eggs. They’re basically a couple if poached eggs inside a bed of tomato purée, bell peppers and othet vegetables and baked with cheese on top. The Farmers Pancake Breakfast is a two pancakes stacked with a Hash Brown, a fried egg, fried mushrooms, rocket leaves and a slice of chicken ham and drizzled with maple syrup. Hash browns and maple syrup? sounds gross doesn’t it? this surprising combo is actually pretty delicious and a little on the lighter side. Australian Big Breakfast is just your typical big breakfast, nothing that special but worth a try.

You wouldn’t easily find this place as its hidden inside of the PJ Palms Sports Center. I usually only frequent this area to get my usual Root Beer and Waffle order from the neighbouring A&W restaurant. However, after hearing about it from a couple of friends I decided to give it a go. The interior is pretty simple, nothing to shout about but it is very cosy I must say. Their menu however, is the total opposite. Their food is pretty damn good as all four of our main dishes tasted excellent. My order of the baked eggs was fantastic. It wasn’t too bland and eggy as it had a tomato base in it. Their pancakes are also worth a try especially the Farmers Pancakes if you crave for something a little more savoury.

As one who frequents PJ a whole lot, I was quite surprised to hear about Jam & Kaya Café for the first time. No doubt I’ve passed PJ Palm Sports Centre a couple times with the urge to enroll, but I guess I’ve never had the time. I’m going to go ahead and say that my urge for an A&W Coney dog was much stronger. Jam & Kaya didn’t really play it big on interior, and it seemed pretty empty when we got there. The two of us each got pancake dishes which cost around RM15−20 for a dish(yikes!) But when it finally came, I guess I could see why they charged a little extra. Our dishes were big and smothered in quite the amount of toppings as well. Taste wise I wasn’t impressed, I really thought they could have done better. All in all, I guess it was an «okay» experience for me. Service was fine, but that’s about it. Guess I’m sticking with that Coney dog.

My first thought about this place — surprised because never thought a café as such will be located in PJ Palm Sports Centre. I must say that this place is a little minimalistic in its design and don’t get too excited after looking at the pictures online cos it does look a little less nicer and less spacious . Anyway, what comes to your mind when it comes to your breakfast time? Kaya toast with half-boiled egg and a cup of hot milo? Well, sadly, you won’t find that at Jam&Kaya though the name of it may give that sort of indication. Instead, they serve big breakfast, pasta, pancake, cakes, pastries and more. I feel that there is still room for important for this place and I won’t probably return to this place again as it doesn’t stand out from the other ordinary cafes out there.

I was intrigued by sound of Jam & Kaya Café. It sounded Malaysian as compared to the other cafes in Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur. So on a Saturday morning, my fiancé and I decided to try out this café, located to the A&W drive through in PJ. It wasn’t hard finding the place because of the famous A&W drive through but finding a parking was a challenge. The street was tight as cars were parked on both sides, making it difficult to drive through. There was a car park attendee who guide to a parking spot and was charged about RM5 if I am not mistaken for the day. I felt it was absurd because it was a public parking space, but oh well. It took us a while to find the café as it is located at PJ Palms Sports Centre. I got a little annoyed that there were no proper signs leading to Jam & Kaya. Finally, we found the hidden café and we ordered our meal. I wanted be a little adventurous and ordered spaghetti carbonara for breakfast/brunch with high expectations. I went through the menu again for any Malaysian flavours but was again disappointed. The food arrive and my carbonara was really creamy and rich. Something that I find hard to stomach. Well, I did not really enjoy the meal but nonetheless, at least I can say that I have tried this café.

I was introduced to Jam & Kaya Café by my brother, and it’s located inside of PJ Palms Sports Center. If you don’t know where the sports center is, it’s located at the same row as A&W, next to Shah’s Village Hotel. The café overlooked a swimming pool, and it reminded me of those neighbourhood cafes in Melbourne. The interior was simple, cosy and bright. You can opt to for the seats near the bar top or the cosy corner with the sofas under the pretty lightings. Same as their décor, their menu was simple and straightforward too. I never fancied Crème Brulee, but I like theirs. The top was caramelized beautifully till crispy, and the custard has a nice«eggy» taste to it but not sickening sweet. The Pancakes with Caramelized Bananas and Ice Cream was delicious too! The pancakes were originally served with tropical fruits, but Joe requested to replace it with caramelized bananas. No worry if you do not have a transport to get here. You can take a LRT to Taman Jaya LRT station, and it’s just a 3 minutes walking distance from the station.
