There are two positive things I could say about this place. One, is the poppy seed cranberry bread that they serve with a choice of omelet, scramble or sunny side when you order the simple breakfast plate(forgot the exact name). But, only the bread is nice. Nothing else. The omelet I chose has nothing in it other than eggs. No cheese, no mushrooms, no nothing. Plain and bland. Salad, omg salad. Don’t mess with me when it comes to salad. There were some lettuce, cherry tomatoes and sun melon, drizzled with balsamic vinegar and what taste like cheap honey, or some syrup. Nay. Nope. No. Just.NO. Second positive thing is that, they serve water. *krik krik* Initially I wanted to order pancakes but it looked like it was loaded with ice cream and sugar syrups. Then I tempted to order classic French toast, but they only have peanut butter, bacon and honey French toast. Reading it alone makes me feel.bloated. I asked if they could just make a simple French toast for me, but it was impossible. Everything’s programmed, don’t mess with the system. It’s not a place that serve quality food for the amount the charge. I think they have bigger potential if they sell bread instead. And they’re not one bit flexible. Expensive, food not up to standard, service wasn’t great, and not friendly. :(Might come back again for the bread if I’m really out of option.

So I was halfway through my meal when the song came up. «I would runaway yeaaaah yeahhh, I would runaway yeaaaah yeaaah» and it sums up my experience here. I just wanted to run away. To be fair, the bread I had was really quite awesome, the highlight of my brunch. I had the Frisson brunch that came with eggs on toast and a side of salad. Not the cheapest place, quite pricey really for what you get, they are also unwilling to go off the menu, they serve a really complicated French toast here where everything including the kitchen sink is in there while we wanted just a simple French toast, but turns out they couldn’t do it, or wouldn’t. Not a problem on it’s own really, but it shows that management won’t go the extra mile. The salad I got also tasted funky, not bad, just that it wasn’t made to my taste. The staff smiles when they remember to. Which is sometimes and very erratic, at times they forget. Overall a very forgettable experience best summed up by the song by the Corrs. «Runaway».

Frisson is definitely not worth the hype it’s been getting on Facebook. I checked here for the pancakes and it is fluffy. That’s about all it has going for it. The chocolate ice cream they gave had no personality and they skimped so much on the Nutella I was literally eating just pancakes. And the menu is weird. I get that it’s going for fusion and what not, but if you have desert bar plastered on your sign board the last thing I expect to see on the menu is fish head curry. It’s like hey guys, I have a hankering for pancakes, why don’t I have some curry fish head to go along with it… So weird…

Ordered a French toast from frisson. To be honest I don’t think bacon goes well with peanut butter and along with the bread that is quite oily makes the whole dish oily. Won’t really order it for the second time. Dipped the French toast with the honey but it made the taste weird. Salty bacon and peanut butter plus honey is horrifying. Service was good and generally a good place to chilll. Oh ya my friend ordered a aglio olio pasta which taste so so. Won’t order it the second time as well. Portion was generous though :)

Finally visited Frisson after hearing my friends talking about it for so long, which turned out to be a pleasant experience. I was there during lunch time which they do serve set lunch meals, however the sets basically just include a main dish and a drink. So, you do not get any appetizers or some sort. But, for the prices of mostly below RM20, I would say that they are rather fair — considering the decent portion that they are serving too. I tried their carbonara beef bacon, while I didn’t expect it to be extraordinarily good, their pasta did smell really good. Just that I would have expected it to be more cheesy ;) I like them real cheesy! Overall, the pasta was good. I picked orange juice as the drink that comes with the set, which you could choose tea as well, or top up RM3 to change it to other coffee beverages on the menu. The orange juice was rather disappointing though, as it comes in a really small glass. I ordered another iced latte afterwards anyway. Their coffee is not bad, smooth with a kick. I did see a lot of people trying out their cake, figuring that they should be good. Gotta try their cake the next visit!

Frisson Coffee Bar is located along the same row as Fat Spoon at Damansara Utama a.k.a Uptown PJ. I’ve been there twice, and the place is always packed. The staffs are very friendly, and they are more than willing to explain their food and coffee to you. The coffee was not too bad, but I actually went back there for the cake. I’m never a fan of any sort of chocolate cakes, but their Chocolate Mint Cake and Cinnamon Chocolate Cake were superb! It wasn’t too sweet, and the cake was moist. I especially like the chocolate mint cake as the cool mint was very refreshing. However, if you are not a mint person this might be too strong for you. I did not order any main courses during my both visits, but I notice the portion was generous and they looked very delicious. I’m so going back there again to try out the food. Getting a parking space in Uptown is always a headache, but the traffic will be slightly lesser on Sunday afternoon.

Finished my language class just a couple of walks away and we decided to drop by this café with our language teacher. It was a really comfortable ambience with coffee and desserts served. We went there after class at 9pm and they don’t have a huge crowd, which is a big plus point for us as we can get the corner seats with cushions :) The parking here was rather a big headache as it’s quite hard to locate one during peak hours. Sometimes you might need to park further down the road to get a parking spot. Well I would consider this place a slightly high end place as the pricing for their food and drinks are quite on the cutting the throat-ish. It will be an ideal spot for a heart to heart talk with friends. But the closing hours might be a turn off because it’s at 10pm :(If only they are open longer.

Another day another café. With my bros again we decided to crash this humble café. Took us quite some time to actually get a parking. The place isnt that pack. The ambience is not bad. A little cozy and relaxed. Their drinks however is a little unique, they combine between soda and coffee. A little twist which made it feel unique but weird for me. The baristas are cool though. They are friendly and explain the drinks very well. Like what is inside and what sort of combination and what taste would it be after they mixed A and B. The price is also reasonable as they are generous with their ingridients and juices! I would recommend you guys to come and try if you wanna try a drink outside your comfort zone!

Frisson is another prime example of a fusion-ish café that tries to combine the word bistro and café together, and then charges you at an enormously large amount just for a single cup of drink that is concocted by crushing and/or brewing beans. For what it is worth, it is pretty decent. I am not a huge fan of soda that is infused with espresso shot, because that is a one way ticket to a heart attack, but apparently they serve it to contribute to the already rising amount of humans admitting to hospitals due to drinking the wrong s#%t, and this is it. Their latte, however, is decent, and the sole reason why I even rate this place higher than a 2 star, to be honest. You will find no desserts here because they are still working on that, so don’t be surprised if you are tasting cheesecake with screws as toppings or something. Definitely not the place to go to if you are keen to keep your diet more to the healthy and ‘clean’ point of view. Otherwise, do come in here and get your daily dose of cardiac arrest!

The first thing that stands out here is definitely their drinks menu. For rm14.90, you could get a refreshing soda like drink with a shot of espresso. Naturally you wouldn’t think that espresso and ribena soda would go well however my curiosity of how it would taste like for the better of me. How I wasn’t disappointed with my decision as there is actually a very smooth mixture of flavors in this unique glass of drink. They also have another type of drink which consist of a mixture of coffee and alcohol such as somersby apple and pear cider as well as Smirnoff ice. Definitely a unique menu which I look forward to trying out more in the near future. The music here is really good as well as they play acoustic covers of songs that I really enjoy. Besides that, they also have a promotion whereby coffee and cakes are at 50% off from Monday to Friday at 3pm-6pm. They are also setting up a dessert bar so be sure to look for that in the near future.
