Brother John Burger

If you have midnight cravings possibly after a party night or after your midnight shift or maybe any other random night that you just felt like having something really satisfying, this is the place to be at. I usually have this as my hangover comfort food because it really made me felt soooooo comfortable after eating them. And the best part? It’s affordable. I’m choosing this over McDonald’s burgers :) Even though it comes without fries.
The stall opens around evening and there you’ll see people queueing up to get their take-​away burgers already. Most likely for dinner. Their most popular burger is «Master Burger (RM9)», okay it sounded like «masturbator», but heck it was delicious. Patties were sandwiched with their secret sauce and the best part of their burger was the additional fried onions. That’s what that make this burger stall so famous. Not to forget, FRESH vegetables too! Not those almost-​wanting-​to-​die coloured vegetables.
Well yes the food is good, one thing not so decent will be the place they operate. Sometimes I see cockroaches and rats running around, not at their stall, but the area itself. Because the drainage systems and the alleys are pretty much blocked with rubbish and smelled bad. The merchants around that area chose to dump their trashes in the drain. This is the only thing that holds back from giving them a 5 star rating.
When there’s a crowd, opt for take-​aways. Because they gave take-​aways the priorities. Well eating there is good as well, because it’s so fresh you can always choose to get another one… like INSTANTLY :) and not regret for not getting an extra burger when you reach home.

This burger joint has been in town for the longest time. I still remember coming here after tuition to buy supper when I was in high school. Until today I still think burger John has one of the best burgers in town.
You’d usually see a large crowd surrounding his stall while he does his thing. They also have all kinds of burger patties to choose from– fish, prawn, chicken, beef and etc. If you like to go big, definitely try the Master Burger which has double of patties, double cheese and egg.
The prices differ according to what you order and toppings you choose for your burger. Also, they are very generous with their sauces. Who doesn’t like a sloppy burger right? I know I do.

The well known burger stall that operates only at night in Damansara Uptown. If you’re looking for a sloppy supper. This place may be worth the time. Known for his special Ramly burgers. This burger stalls has been said to sell at least 200 burgers/​hotdogs in just a night!
Most people go there to try out his Master Burger which I think is a one of its kind. It’s the usual sesame burger bun, with the Ramly burger patty in it (single or double, up to you) and the part that makes me thing its unique is that he puts in deep fried onions in it. It may just be a small touch to the burger but it makes a difference for me. You also get to select your choice of sauce to go along. Choices such as Barbecue, Tomato sauce, Chili sauce and Mayonnaise.
A little bit pricey for a Ramly burger but its all right once awhile I guess.

Sloppy burger fan’s rejoice!
Brother John’s burgers is a must have when you’re in this part of town.
He’s got the most sloppy juicy patties in Uptown.
This stall serves up all sorts of patties, from the usual ramly selection all the way to prawn and fish patties.
It’s a popular spot amongst the local residents in Damansara Utama. On busy nights, you’d have to wait up to 30 minutes for your burger, but its well worth the wait.
Recently, they’ve expanded their operations to provide a seating area along with a drinks stall to compliment their burger stand.

I have been trying out eateries around Damansara Utama (Uptown) since I’m undergoing my internship around here. One of the many ways to spot a good eatery is when you see a crowd waiting for their food. Brother John is no exception. If you’re looking for a typical Malaysian Ramly kind of burger, then this is one of the many burger joints to «onomnomnom» your burgers!
As always, you can have a choice of meat which comprise of chicken, beef and hotdog. Brother John’s burgers come in many sizes and however you want it. You can request for cheese, double patties, egg, extra spicy and many more. You will expect savoury sauces bursting out from the burgers when you eat it. That is how much sauce they put into the burger. I love it when burger is full with sauce, but it is a little bit too much for my liking. The price is quite reasonable looking at the fact that they include many ingredients into the burgers they grill.
The only downside would be the waiting period, especially when it’s at night. As for me, I didn’t have to wait so long because I bought my fair share of burger when they just opened the store. As for the burger presentation, it is not ideal but who cares about the presentation when you can eat such delicious burgers?!

Brother John has all the basics of a good ramly burger and a little more.
Every burger comes with a generous serving of mustard and BBQ sauce to complement the chili and mayonnaise. This is a rarity even though mustard is becoming a quintessential ingredient for burger stalls just as mayonnaise did way back.
The menu is also one of the most legible we’ve come across. This makes ordering easy for newbies. That said we were disappointed by the special-​special-​special aka Master Burger (two burger patties, egg and double cheese). It is nothing to scream about for the extra price. We recommend the double-​special-​cheese if that is your usual preference.
The burger stall is located opposite the Damansara Uptown hawker center beside the Fusion restaurant. It can get busy late at night so expect to wait for your order.
