This is my favorite place to eat when in Bangsar. A great menu offering local delights and fusion items! I love the Nasi Lemak, especially because it comes with sambal petai! If I’m not ordering that, it’s usually the soft shell crab fried rice, mince beef nachos or duck salad. If you’re here for tea, be sure you sample the nyonya kuih, it’s so good and normally buy 1 free 1 at that time.

Good gwai lo coffee mixed with local delights is the reason I come back again and again. I keep having the curry hor fun every time I come, it has the right balance between salty and sweet and spicy. Nice place to seat too. They have an awesome upstairs(though they keep it inexplicably closed even when the place is near full) and a shady outside area downstairs. Service is pretty speedy and there are lots of servers around. If you’re in the Bangsar area with a friend, it’s a good place to hang out for a chat.

This place gets a lot of praise but personally I am not a big fan. Some dishes are consistently good like the salted egg fried rice, other things are not so great like the salads. When you have salad options, why spoil them with having oily fried chicken and heavy mayonnaise with it. Service is pretty good at least and the décor is cool.

The mango smoothie is to die for. I’ve never had a bad one. The prices are definitely more reasonable than many other restaurants of its ilk in the Telawi area, and the Asian-Western fusion menu benefits from the restaurant’s clever, inventive experiments. Wondermama’s pretty excellent — but the problem is, it’s often inconsistent. For every time I’ve had a great dinner there, there’s another one that same week to bring my expectations down. Realistically, this is more of a 3 ½ star than a 4.

Went to Wondermama with my friend for dinner after we got our hair done. Wondermama is a restaurant that serves both asian and western cuisines. Its located in Bangsar Village 1, next to Plan B. it was a really chic restaurant with pretty interior décor. It was both our first time there so we weren’t sure what was or what to expect. My friend ordered nasi lemak 3.0(RM20.90) while I ordered D&L nyonya laksa(RM13.90). As it was not so crowded, we got our food quite fast. The presentation was simple yet very appetizing to the eyes. My laksa was not too bad except that I did not enjoy the santan flavour too much. My friend’s nasi lemak was really tasty, especially the sambal. Overall, it was a satisfying meal as the food as really good and I look forward to going back for more.

This place is a Wonder, no pun intended. I attend Bangsar Village Shopping Centre regularly and I cannot recommend this place more that I already have. It’s probably my favourite in BV! They got the most inventive, original menu at the best prices in Bangsar. Prices range from the RM15 to RM30, which is pretty good considering all the pricier restaurants near by. And trust me, you don’t need to try those if you’re looking for good quality lunch. Wonder Mama is truly a wonder in almost every sense. The place itself is very nice, well decorated with both smoking and non-smoking area, the service is great and the menu(well, just read the above). I’d recommend the Spicy Fried menu, it’s got at least 5 plates well worth their price. They also offer a good selection of drinks other than the usual boring Coke, which you don’t get regularly in these types of restaurants. If you’re around Bangsar Village, do give this place a shot!

Wonder Mama is another one of those places that started big and garnered a lot of attention. Once again I was disappointed upon dining here. So the first time i ate here it wasn’t too bad cause i had a fried rice, how bad could a fried rice be right? it was mediocre nothing great and definitely overpriced. On my second visit, we ordered some mussels, when opened water came pouring out and the mussels smelled awful cause the were obviously on the verge of going bad. It wasn’t just one mussel, it was the whole lot. Makes me wonder why there are so many people dining here. Maybe there’s some yummy dish that i haven’t tried.

Let’s straight to the point, not talking about the ambient or service but only the FOODS! I feel it’s really cool as they can comes out with an idea of combining our local foods with western style, or I should said they have the ability to modernized our traditional food! They are famous with the Nasi Lemak with different version, salads, layers tea milk, sweet desserts and coffee. If you don’t prefer their Nasi Lemak, I would recommend their WM Special Seafood Maggi Mee Goreng. It’s use the famous instant noodle in Malaysia and fried it with seafoods such as squid, mussels, prawn, egg with vegetables. I like it because It’s different from Mamak Maggi Goreng but somehow, the taste is still there with enhancement. The Pisang De Goreng also very nice. It’s a dessert where they fried the banana in Malaysia’s style and added with ice cream and marshmallow. The average price for each meal is about RM15−20.

As much as everyone talks about this place, I honestly think that it is overrated. Sure you can get all creative with food by putting in a bunch of stuff in it and making it look artsy and all but 3 out of 3 times I’ve eaten here — the food upsets me. My friends are the ones that are always inviting me to come here to eat and I always give it a second chance but after the last round of eating there(for the 3rd time) I don’t think I will ever go back. Wondermama serves«fusion food» and I ordered chicken and potato salad the last time I was there. It costed me RM19 for a plate and I didn’t enjoy it at all and feel completely unsatisfied as a customer. The chicken was hard, cut into fat chunks; the potato salad was just weird dude. The only thing I fininshed on my plate was the salad which came with some weird sauce. Besides that, they also serves cakes and desserts there. I didn’t bother trying it because it would add extra cost on top of the cost I am paying for the wasted food.

This restaurant is humbly set up to preserve typical Malaysian foods and/or ambience with actual meals(not merely tit-bits) and comfortable surroundings. They have beautiful colourful tiles a la Penang heritage spots and many unique decorative pieces like antique bike used to sell snacks during olden days, antique ice crusher machineries, stacked antique bowls, and more. You can definitely come out of this place with a pretty Instagram post of either the food, the decorations… Or both. Currently, Wondermama has two operating outlets: one in Bangsar Village II and one in Avenue K Mall. The branch that happens to be the most approachable to me is the one in Bangsar Village II. It is located beside plan B; just opposite Starbucks. It has the luxury of double-storey lot and moreover it has some outdoor seats too. The place is pretty big to capacitate events like birthday dinner for around 50 pax. Wondermama brings the concept of remarkable infusion of East and West to their dishes. My favourite items on the menu are the Mama salted egg fried rice, asamboi seven-up, and bacon ice cream. The bacon ice cream, as funky as it might sound, it actually tasted good. The ice cream base itself is vanilla flavoured with some gula Melaka on it, AND with some little bacon bits on top… Which is surprisingly good. If there were one thing I could complain about Wondermama, it would have to be their price. That asamboi seven-up alone is RM8, which is quite expensive for me. Once in a while Wondermama is a nice little treat(and good ambience!) I believe; but perhaps it is not worth to consider to be listed at one of our regular casual dinner visits.

If I am ever craving for some traditional food with an added twist to it, Wondermama is my place to go. As you enter the store, the very traditional Nyonya kind of Malaysian interiors mixed with their slightly modern bit of rows of television showing old cartoons like Popeye will already tug those strings by your heart and pull you straight into a deep nostalgia. When the menu comes, you will have a hard time choosing from a list interesting food such as their Black Spider Fried Rice(deliiicious!), Scallop Satay, Chicken Hot Dog Naan and their range of potato salads that are served with a delicious japanese sesame dressing topped off with some murukku! I haven’t had the opportunity to try out their desserts but I hear the Nutella Banana Ice Cream is to die for! It is also worth mentioning that this place is great even for big groups as their lower floor is spacious and lined with long tables and their staffs are always very attentive and friendly.

Wondermama, one of my favourite dining place, both lunch and dinner. WonderMama, is a dining restaurant that serves local delicacies with a twist. They also combine western food with Malaysia local delights. The most interesting part, is the cups and plates they use to serve food, which are very vintage like those our parents used in their generation. The comments towards WonderMama are usually very extreme. Some of them enjoy the food a lot; while some of them actually do not like it and cannot find what is so special about it to attract the crowd. Personally, I like WonderMama a lot, i think it is one of the best dining restaurant that serves local delight. I love the Nyonya Mee Siam a lot and it is always my favourite order for dinner. It is friend Mee Hun served with anchovies, green chilies, anchovies and friend chickens. It taste quite good, especially the fried chicken. I’ve tried their fried rice the other day, it was nice as well! However, the drinks they serve are quite costly so usually I will only ask for warm water. Overall, it is quite good! Recommended! :D

This is one of my restaurant to frequent in Bangsar. I am in love with their kaya & tobiko roti bakar, the combination sounds so odd on paper but trust me the flavors are out of this world. I like that they serve their drinks in old fashion tin mugs and their canteen like seating and tables, I think that’s a nice touch and it really keeps up with the restaurant’s fusion theme. I’ve tried several of their pasta dishes and my favorite is the aglio olio with fried chicken, it wasn’t too oily and the flavors just right, don’t let its plain presentation fool you. The place is usually packed on weekends so it’s better to call ahead and make a reservation if you ae dining with a big party.

The hype of this place intrigued my colleague and I. One fine afternoon for lunch break we visited this place. Though the menu have many mouth-watering dishes, the price that comes along with ain’t that friendly. Lucky for me, it was my colleague’s treat, so I gave the miso soup ‘Shiong Tong’ Clam and nachos a try. When the dish arrived, I realized why they charge at that particular price. Its because of the ingredients they put in. My Miso soup ‘Shiong Tong’ clam has quite a number of clamps, vegetables and the soup taste good. As for the nachos, it has both my thumbs up. Although the price is a little steep, but the dishes are worth a try. I would definitely return to give the other dishes a try!

WonderMama serves local favourites but they come with a creative twist. Since its opening in 2012, they have received very good response from the locals and foreigners; and they quickly became one of the famous eatery in Bangsar. The concept of the restaurant is to create an atmosphere full of old school charm but with a contemporary touch to it. Some of the interesting dishes would be their Nasi Lemak 2.0. Unlike your average nasi lemak, the fried chicken were juicy and tender, and the coconut milk rice was fluffy and fragrance. The sambal petai at the side was superbly delicious. I had the Special Maggi Mee Soup, and it was delicious too. You must be thinking that I’m nuts to have ordered something so common, but there were nothing common with this dish. The noodles were served with salmon, chicken hot dog, beef bacon, fried egg and potato leaves. It’s a simple bowl of noodles that packed with flavours. This is definitely the place to visit if you are bored if the usual local delicacies and looking for something creative. The place might be a bit noisy due to the crowd, but you can always opt for the outdoor sittings to have that al fresco feel.

Thank God it’s Friday! My friends and I head down to Bangsar for a quick dinner. Since my friend was famished, she ordered java mee to appease her appetite. I shared some as well! All I can say is that, it’s not up to my expectation. The noodles are a little bit too dry, but the other ingredients are okay. Thank God for the mango ice blended as it compensates the not so satisfying noodles. It’s pretty good! I’m not sure whether it’s authentic fresh mango, syrup or both together but it sure is taste fresh and authentic. What’s most significant is that the mango ice blended is served in cups which are seen in the olden days.

This morning I decided to have breakfast out and be treated like a quin. So I had to think which is the best place where I can have a culinary volcano of flavour with a sophisticated twist. So I chose Wondermama, from Bangsar. The perfect place where you can mix the traditional local flavours and casual dining in a vibrant and creative restaurant. I had my favourite Benedict eggs and a Virgin Promenade Mojito. The service level and the food was just the way I expected… AMAZING!!! What I like about this place is that they add to your drinks and food a slice of elegance & refinement, which to be honest in Malaysia it’s not that easy to get. So if you wanna be served fast in an elegant way, Wondermama is the place. P. S. The prices are great. I payed around 25RM for my breakfast. P. S.S. They have more outlets, everyone of them being amazing. The menu is different and the interior design also. The picture attached is from the one from Bangsar.

Looking for something not so Malaysian, yet Malaysian? Right, the thing I love about this place its the creative menu. Different versions of the Nasi Lemak gives you almost all angles on what you want in your meal. The fusion of local and western food here is amazing, I can taste my mother’s cooking fused into a Pasta Carbonara. My recommendation would be the Buttermilk Chicken Burger and the Sambal Pasta(not sure if its the exact name). I hardly order a chicken burger everywhere I go, so that says it all. The Sambal Pasta was brilliant! It was topped with bacon and sotong, nothing could go wrong with this dish. Other dishes to try are the Marmite Chicken Carbonara and Mashed Potato Salad. The ambience of the place is nice and cosy, but gets a tad bit crowded during lunch and dinner hours. Overall a good place to enjoy the streets of Bangsar and have relaxed meal.

One particularly boring night(I seldom have these by the way, I tend to keep myself busy) I decided to give a friend of mine a call to know where she was(she’s always out somewhere.) Gladly enough, she was going to watch a performance by a father-daughter jazz duo with her friends and I decided to tag along. It was held at Wondermama(not to be confused with Cooking Mama which is an app game, I’ve learned my lesson) and I decided to tag along. The place was nice, it is located at the corner lot and it is split into two floors. The ground floor is mainly used for dining and such and the top floor had a more bar-like feel to it. We were on the top floor where the duo was performing and ordered ourselves a few drinks, mostly teas and wine because they had had dinner before that. I had a look at the wine list, it was ok but could’ve been better, the price was reasonable though so I had a couple of glasses of the house red. What struck me the most about the place is the how spacious the ground floor deck were, and the wooden pergolas, tables and chairs were the right choice to make it look and feel more cozy.
